Heath Ledger in Batman... Method acting and as we all know, it went a bit far.

He's great in it, isn't he? And that 'dog' scene weeping
It's an all round great performance.

And, yes, the dog scene is a tough one to watch.

For his first part in a major motion picture, this guy was a pretty convincingly nasty piece of work:

Robert Helpmann's performance as the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was pretty damn scary.
Agreed. Far too menacing for a film like that I always thought. It scared the living whatnot out of me as a kid and my 2 lads would watch from behind their fingers when they were little.

There was an English actor called Colin Jeavons who looked very similar. Even today, if something comes on with him in it, it makes me shudder.
And would you believe, he used to appear in children's programmes?

Bob Hoskins as Nikita Kruschev in "Enemy at the Gates". "You've lost half of your men?" "Hurry up and lose the other half. And then lose yourself!"

I'm sure he was very good. It's just me, he always reminds me of The Childcatcher.

One of the most underrated films and excellent use of selective colouring make it a film buff essential

For me F.Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri, in the 1984 film Amadeus.
It practically won every award possible.

How about this for a creepy performance from Colin Jeavons? Max Quordlepleen in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Funny enough, when I read the novel by Douglas Adams, the character description he gave was really creepy. I thought, "That's Colin Jeavons". And that was more than a year before the TV series was made.

I thought Plan B was pretty convincing as a nasty piece of work in 'Harry Brown'
Indeed - that was one of the bleakest and most disturbing films I have ever seen -stayed with me for weeks. His role in that film was improvised in large parts - particularly his interview scene. I suspect he might not be that far from his character

Neil Maskell in Utopia was very good as the shambolic shuffling psychopath Arbie
