Good to see Saul on TV again as I think he's a great character. The first episode is certainly setting the scene and I can see the story developing. I did get a little confused as I thought BCS was set after the events of BB, but then read that BCS is set 6 years before BB. I should have known that!

Looking forward to episode 2 tonight!

The first 5 minutes of the first episode is set after Breaking Bad, maybe 10 years after.

The rest seems to be a flashback from that point to back years before Breaking Bad.

I think they'll use the flashback device to drop in to different years, and we'll see Saul X years after the events of Episode 2 for example, and even up to and during the Breaking Bad time.

That's right - the intro (black and white segment) was indeed set after BB (Saul watching his old TV adverts). Now I just need to remain alert to any further transgression to the past or the future!

I haven't read the whole thread though fear of uncovering a spoiler but hugely enjoyed the first episode - it was on the slow side but it did a perfect job of building the basis of the story (I think) looking forward to episode 2 tonight - the only downside for me - most of these "must see series" I find way, way after everyone else and can burn through 2-3 a night - not since The Wire have I had to wait a whole week for the next one!
I'm the same. With the exception of Boardwalk Empire and Empire which is on now. I've been free to watch as much or as little as I can in my own time frame.

What was the name of his heavy, the big black dude. Would love it if we saw a younger slimmer him. Didn't say much first time round but I found his character incredible funny.

Wasn't he one of the court guards in the first episode?

Edit - I just checked, doesn't look like it.

Nah not the same guy, much older, shame.

There is a cast list on IMDb, lots of new faces.

Yeah, they could set off some off some pretty good teasers with that - Saul reading a news article saying Walt had been captured and was alive for example.

I'd love to see Saul in a Los Pollos Hermanos buying lunch, Walt queueing behind him, both waiting to be served by Gus Fring - no interaction between the three of them, completely unaware of how their paths will cross again in the future. biggrin

Loving this so far. Mr Gilligan sure knows how to write tense scenes!

I think the Saul/Jimmy character and story possibilities are strong enough to stand on their own two feet. I reckon they'll keep the BB references to the odd nod and a few shared characters but won't rely too strongly on the link

I thought I glimpsed Walts car on a driveway as Saul was driving, just before he hit the skateboard chap in episode 1.

I also thought it was Walts house, so freeze framed it a few times. Pretty sure it wasn't his car.

Ok, I wasn't sure. Looks like it will be a good series by the way it's started, I hope it has the ability to draw you in the same way BB did, I'm not sure whether to watch it one episode at a time, or save them up and watch them in chunks like BB. I suspect I will be to weak and watch each episode as it arrives.

That's my fear. I only picked up on BB when there was all the hoohaa about it finishing, so I was able to gorge on it and was done in about 3 weeks. Much like I did with the Wire when BBC2 showed it start to finish every night.

This might be painful watching in real time.

The thought of every new episode, there, on Netflix, taunting me, will prove to tough to resist I think smile

As i've already mentioned I've only watched a few episodes of Breaking Bad but didn't get into it. Two episodes of Better Call Saul and I'm hooked.

I watched a couple of BB episodes last night off the back of this and they've done wonders with the make up on BCS.
