At the end of the first episode, Walt becomes a drug manufacturer.
Wait. He does what?!

Not the ending I wanted, but a fitting end.

Genuinely gutted to have watched the final episode tonight.

A prequel about Mike is ripe for the making.

There is an interesting backstory that could be written around pre and post 1984 when he took his first bribe...

Gilligan said there will be no more from 'this particular universe'. He wants to do something that doesn't involve anti heroes.

Think they'd struggle with that, given how old he looks now

If we see a Mike prequel I suspect it’ll happen in about a decade and involve neither Vince Gilligan nor Jonathan Banks.

Compared to the way they ended the Sopranos though! nuts

I’ve just started re-watching BB, and have reached s2 ep8 ‘Better Call Saul’. Very different watching it knowing what we now know about him.

Just finished BCS last night. I think it just edges BB as the best TV series I've even seen.

(Not seen The Wire. I know that's a popular choice as 'best ever'.)

Any recommendations for similar shows with lots of seasons and similar attention to detail?

Not tried the wire properly. I watched a few scenes a while back, but it just seemed a bit joyless.

The Wire is superb on every level - give it another go

The West Wing is the other one that regularly comes up when this question is asked.

I've tried watching The Wire probably half a dozen times and I can never get passed the first half dozen episodes or so. I really can't see what the fuss is about.

It's ok, not everybody has to like all the same things. But the problem is you. tongue out

Try reading the book The Corner by David Simon. Might help it click.

The Wire is only one of 6 ever to get 9.3 or more from hundreds of thousands of reviews on IMDB. It beats Better Call Saul.

If you don't like The Wire, try Homes Under The Hammer (I joke of course - Escape to the Country is miles better) wink

No, really, I'm joking. Try Season 2. They are roughly the same characters, but with a different storyline.

I watched season 1 and started season 2 and then gave up after a few episodes a few times, then I actually stuck with it once and it got really good, season 4 is my favourite by far..

I started breaking bad again last night for the 2nd or 3rd time, after finishing better call Saul, it had me thinking, I can’t think of a program which has a better first episode personally, it just jumps straight into the action, doesn’t drag the time out of becoming a dealer etc, looking forward to watching it all again over the next few weeks

I’ve been rewatching BB whilst I’ve been off with COVID. I’m just about to watch season 5 episode 10 and I forgot how good it is. I’d love a show about Fring and his past like we had with BCS.

I was wondering about that, what do you think is different?

Once the dark nights draw in I’m gonna hibernate and rewatch BB

It’s not him, it’s you smile The Wire is awful. As before, add Black Bird, For All Mankind and Slow Horses to the watch list but all need Apple TV+

Black Bird easily watched in a free trial as only 6 episodes but worth every minute. Amazing performance from Paul Walter Hauser and anything with with Ray Liotta is worth a watch. Probably fit Slow Horses into the trial too as only 1 season so far.
