I really enjoyed that episode - I thought Mike's acting was brilliant.

Really enjoyed that one! I've enjoyed it all but thought it could do with stepping up a gear, and it has! biggrin

Would love to have seen Saul's face after Mike got out of the car park without any stickers! biggrin

indeed. Much improved. Fact remains the previous episode could have been dropped entirely and no one would have missed it. Hopefully the pace will now keep up, or, heaven forbid, even crank it up a notch

Indeed, last nights was fantastic, I think the whole thing exudes quality though, it is just so considered and thoughtful, I like the sparseness, I like the fact he is a bit down at heel and has less attitude than in BB. I am not finding it predictable, they aren't laying on heavy BB references, it is all so subtle and I love how he is kind of lonely and a bit isolated, he isnt the centre of that world, just a guy trying to scratch a living, they love st cars in the BB universe !

The dialogue is brilliant, when describing Mikes demeanour to the Police, I really did laugh at that, Mike is a brilliant character and Jonathan Banks who plays him is perfect, never seem him stretch the character beyond the general grumpiness, controlled aggression and resourcefulness but last night he did, powerful performance.

I wonder is "S,all Good Man" was conceived before this or they realised it works when they focused on the character and doing a spin off ? cant remember if we knew during BB whether Saul had ever been Jimmy ?

I was initially sceptical when I heard about this coming out but I am glad they have done it.

I disagree. The last episode lets us share and relate to the humdrum banality of Jimmys fledging life as a lawyer writing wills for old folk. We are on his journey of transformation with him. He is bored and we share that, so we get to understand what brings him from Jimmy to Saul.

+1

We want this to be a slow burner, not all over with nothing left to tell after two series.

Yeah, I agree, I love the slightly slow, brooding pace, taking time to deal with some banality, for me this makes it so much more real when the pace ramps up.

It isnt perhaps a series for those looking for exploding helicopters, car chases, gun fights and loads of sex, I love the facts its pretty low key and not trying too hard, it gives it a kind of comfortable air, it is a massive series based on the BB phenomena., but they havent over egged it, but I think things are ramping up nicely now.

Also a bit different as we are back to old school waiting a week, I quite like it for a change, get to savour, anticipate and not binge, proper old school viewing but no "missing it" or dicking about with video tapes.

100% agree with this. It's like a fine meal, and makes other programmes seem like pretty weak gruel by comparison.

I am still finding it hard to recommend as a standalone show, I think having watched BB adds texture that fills in the blanks. That's not the say any aspect of the show is poor, but it is very much a companion piece at the moment. No complaints from me though, as BB ought to be essential viewing.

I thoroughly enjoyed that episode and I'm the one complaining it is slow. Hopefully there will be more like that.

So we are 6 hours into a 10 hour season and we still dont know what the story arc is.

Interesting point - who would agree that the frustration of having to wait a week for each episode rather than hardcore binging on BB - is affecting their opinion of the show?

I hate having to wait (but am too impatient to wait 10 weeks to watch the whole lot in one go). Far prefer 3+ eps a day for a few days... esp on long winter nights up here in the NW Highlands.

I think there is a hint of the story arc. Saul is starting to help Mike, and Mike is getting himself into trouble. At least it's been interesting. There is a difference between BCS having interesting sub stories, and something like The Walking Dead where nothing seems to happen season after season.

Every time the titles run and end abruptly I think my ruko/netflix account has frozen. Catches me everytime :-)
