Personally it would bug the hell out of me but I can definitely see it catching on with today's 5-second attention-span youth.

Maybe they'd talk less. More reason to invest in home theater setups. I can wait three months for Bluray releases, and I serve better beer.

Is it true in France they have phone jammers in theaters? I love France...

now that's an idea I could get behind!! I agree with you on the bluray thing - I'm nearly at that stage TBH, buy the blu for less than it costs to go to the flix and don't get your viewing interrupted (as a bonus you get to keep the film)

At first I thought it's a pants idea but I can't remember the last time I went to the cinema so don't really care.

Then it dawned on me I'm going to be going to a lot of U/PG rated films over the next few years with baby Alvarez and I'm back to my this is a really pants idea.

So no.

I met a guy at a party last year.
The guy told me how he had been watching a gig, (bryan adams i think), and you could send text messages onto big screens next to the stage.
He then got his phone out and showed me a picture of him at said gig with his own text message on the screen behind him.
And he paid god knows how much to stand in a field texting!?!
i punched him straight in the face 13 times before i was pulled off him.

ps. that last bit may have been in my fevered imagination.

Aside from the annoyance on screen there'll be the glow from a hundred smartphones in the cinema. Stupid idea.

Five minutes into "Sixth Sense" someone texts Bruce Willis is a ghost
Brilliant idea.

I think this can safely be filed alongside the prople who go to a live show and spend the whole evening watching it on the little screen of their iPhone....

People that come up with this stuff should really be reprimanded. Ban noisy food while we're at it.

A mid-week afternoon is the best time to go to avoid the typical annoyances.
