Mythbusters - The one about jumping the shark?

Shame they wouldn't get a proper goodbye though. As said before, there has to be some dispute on either side for that to happen.
I agree. It's like when characters get written out of TV shows off-screen - you just know there has been some dispute and the actor/actress is not able (for whatever reason) to film their exit. JonRB said:

Adam and Jamie investigated whether roundabouts really are more efficient than the traditional American 4-way Stop junction and concluded that America should start building lots of roundabouts.
They also proved the "ripple effect" that accounts for gridlock that has no apparent reason.
Kari, Tory and Grant established that in stop-start traffic on multi-lane roads (ie. freeways, motorways, etc), it is marginally quicker to change lanes whenever an adjacent lane appears to be going faster, but is very stressful and only saves you a couple of minutes per hour so not really worth the hassle over just picking a lane and staying in it.
Overall it was a bit of a return to form.
Edit: Also there wasn't a single explosion nor was anything destroyed. Nor did they bust a myth and then try to re-create the desired effect with ever more implausible contrivances. It was simple postulation -> experiment -> results stuff. Bravo.

Indeed it was a very good episode, oddly it was the last show of the series (Discovery UK) and there was no mention of Kari, Grant and Tory being given their P45's?Adam and Jamie investigated whether roundabouts really are more efficient than the traditional American 4-way Stop junction and concluded that America should start building lots of roundabouts.

The UK and US episodes seem totally out of sync.
Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd resurrect this one.
I have to say that I'm really enjoying the new format with just Adam and Jamie presenting. It's more science and less "blowing st up" which is good. Also, with Kari, Grant and Tory gone there is less whooping and cries of "that was AWESOME!" (with high fives etc) which always irritated the hell out of me. Although Adam does still say "awesome" and "perfect" often enough to continue the Mythbusters Drinking game.
But on the whole, a massive improvement and a good return to its science-based roots.

Agree with the above posts, the last 2 episodes have been the best Mythbusters episodes for a while. They were somehow tearing the arse out of every myth with the other 3 and for the most part getting a lot of things wrong or just not being all that accurate, it was starting to look a bit lazy.

"So, what's up Kari?""Well, a viewer sent in a myth that we can't totally blow something up with 1kg of C4"
"Let's do it!!"
BOOM!
"That was pretty awesome but we didn't *totally* blow it up"
"This is true. But we have to replicate the results!"
"I know, let's use 100kg of C4!!!"
"Great! Also, let's make Tory stand too close to it so that he gets hurt!"
"And I'll build a robot to deliver it... because robot"
"AWESOME!!!"
BOOOM!
"That was totally AWESOME"
"Am I missing an arm?"
"OMG! We need to get Tory to a hospital!"
Nope. I do not miss that at all.

Got to agree
I've watched the Simpsons & Indy episodes and only fast forwarded the ads. Before this series there was a lot of waffle, especially from the sub team. Much more interesting without them with more focus on the main myths.

This season will give "MythBusters" a "new look, a new vibe, and it's become more educational again,"
Was looking forward to a new direction with the new series, but have to say the Simpsons wrecking ball item was completely pointless - All they did was test how absorbent the water bag was, that they put inside their Homer model. Not really impressed so far.
I was watching Mythbusters on Netflix this evening, and they were doing a "myth" about whether or not a Chinese rocket that shot flaming arrows mid-flight would have worked. They concluded the multiple corroborating designs they had diagrams of would not have worked - myth busted before they even left the drawing board, and yet they still went on to spend the entire episode building and launching the thing, which was not really impressive anyway, despite "That was AWESOME" being shouted time after time.

Got to agree. I FF'd a lot of it as watching them 'drift' was painful and they were never going to prove or disprove anything by doing it themselves. It was a task more in keeping with the previous sub-teams exploits.
Hopefully that was a blip. We shall see.
