It looks like an abortion, or shipping containers, funnily enough...

Ha! I don't think he got the carbon bath! Bet it's a cheaper fibre glass version, hence it's in white gel coat!

Not totally sure about the rust look on the bottom, but apart from that I absolutely love it!!

16 large on a carbon fibre bath to paint it white, White, FFS...

On a more serious note, given he spent £10k on shipping containers, and another £10k on steel to make them stand up, plus all the costs associated with the studding out the external walls and insulation, would he not have been cheaper to use a normal steel frame with SIP's or something similar?

Might have looked nice with a dark wood cladding.

Stunning and a very cheap method of building. Fair play.

Was my thought! Why would you paint it otherwise! But would fibreglass take the weight, might have to be carbon.

Well done him. He nailed the combination of materials, the structural details and putting it all in context.

Still a daft bath though.

Same here. The building is great, the rusty orange panelling, not so much.

Agreed, wood would have been my choice. I actually thought that's what he was doing.

Stupid question alert

Why didn't the containers need reinforcing?

Ok I understand they took the sides off but I'm thinking in their normal usage they would carry much more weight and be pulled around and stacked and bashed about and subject to much greater forces so surely they should be pretty strong already?

Containers use point loading at the reinforced corners. No structural strength in the middle.

Apart from the bath ... Ligne Roset sofas so he couldn't have been short of a bob or two for interior design!

Really enjoyed that - been talking about shipping containers for building with the OH for ages, so I was pleased it actually came out so well!

It was made 100% better because of the plot though; what an incredible location!
