hehe Culchies! There's a word I haven't heard for a while. I liked the place he built, fair play to him for being bold.

Absolutely.
A quality project, unlike some on the program.

Very impressive if it cost what he said, but the numbers did seem a bit out.

The only major things I would change is wood cladding for the ground floor and the bath!

My brother married one of them. Caked in makeup, Marge Simpson hair & house full of baubles. When I visit, it's like being on the set of Goodfellas.
Is she called Marie, and is your brother's name Paulie

Cladding that bath will be tricky though - lots of compound curves wink

Love the house but the bath is nuts, using carbonfibre as a bath is great heat transfer I can see a cold bath if you spend too long!

It had some nice touches, like the drinking trough for the cows and the astroturfed upper area, but it looked like an industrial unit rather than a house. A complete eyesore in an otherwise pretty area.

Besides, you can't be a proper architect unless you wear a bow tie. wink

The only problem with that drinking trough is cows when stood still drinking tend to do what cows do when they stande still.

The rusty finish looks dreadful, the colour looks fine from a distance,he should have just done it in a wood cladding

I quite liked the container house (despite him painting the bath white!)

The one bit that confused me was the staircase he had outside, if you look at it it goes up to the terrace/garden bit that is surrounded by glass - however I couldn't see any hinges or anything on the glass that's at the stop of the staircase, so how do you get on/off the stairs?

I notice that. I\m assuming he either changed his mind OR they are trying to find an elegant hinge solution because all that glass is fixed at the bottom only it seems to give the clean look. Maybe you take the glass panel out?

Probably has/had the glass in place to get regs/planning approval then removes glass to get the clean look once he has the paperwork in hand.

There were no handrails or guarding on the external stairs either, so this must have been completed after filming. The glass panel detailing is very clever as there are no visible fixings whatsoever. It took a few minutes to work out how it was done, and it looks great.

I assumed the glass was affixed to some type of floor based mounting frame.

Do you know different?

They have to be fixed from the bottom as there are no visible fixings at all and each section is separate to the next, (nothing to join them together at the top), so each is self supporting. Each section is probably recessed into a "U" channel of some sort but below what is visible by probably 150 - 200mm or even more, and held in position where it's hidden. I can't see how else they would stand up on their own. It's a very neat detail.
