Really liked the house but felt they ruined it a little by just bringing their old furniture into it. I'm not saying they needed ultra-modern furniture but their dark-wood-athon did not look nice in the new house.

Agree with previous posters who mentioned the glass covering part of the central courtyard. It was shown in the plans and missing at the end. Probably realised that it was pointless and decided to do without.
I watched again on 4OD yesterday as I missed the glass part when watching live. They wanted the glass to provide a sheltered area for her exotic plants. It would never have worked in my eyes as there was still too much area that would be exposed to the elements.

I loved the look of the stone BUT, as mentioned above, you could not see close enough to see how good it was.

Something so prominent on the building would have been worth employing the services of a mason/brickie.

I'm all for people having a go but they need to realise where their 'talent' ends.
Absolutely agree.

I completed my self build in April. There was absolutely no way I was going to do the stone facades as they are so fundamental to the whole look of the building.

Ha! I don't think he got the carbon bath! Bet it's a cheaper fibre glass version, hence it's in white gel coat!

Might have looked nice with a dark wood cladding.
Agreed, wood would have been my choice. I actually thought that's what he was doing.

Containers use point loading at the reinforced corners. No structural strength in the middle.

It has been said, and it's true, that plot/location just makes a great building 1000 times better.

I really liked this one, probably my favourite of the series so far. Thought both cladding types worked really well.

Loads of really cool detail that you'd only really get from an architect/designer build - the stairs which had been sandblasted, then rusted, then lacquered were very nice.

On the show I thought the master bedroom looked quite small but in the picture posted above, it actually looks pretty big. It would be interesting to see a floorplan as I couldn't properly get my head around the layout.
Where is this picture of the master bed you refer to?

I quite liked the container house (despite him painting the bath white!)

The one bit that confused me was the staircase he had outside, if you look at it it goes up to the terrace/garden bit that is surrounded by glass - however I couldn't see any hinges or anything on the glass that's at the stop of the staircase, so how do you get on/off the stairs?
I notice that. I\m assuming he either changed his mind OR they are trying to find an elegant hinge solution because all that glass is fixed at the bottom only it seems to give the clean look. Maybe you take the glass panel out?

Probably has/had the glass in place to get regs/planning approval then removes glass to get the clean look once he has the paperwork in hand.
Good point.

I assumed the glass was affixed to some type of floor based mounting frame.

Do you know different?
