Regrettably she is now unable to act for medical reasons.
I feared that might be the case. frown

There's an entire generation of Archers actors who have been in it for decades and are now in their 70s and 80s so it's inevitable that we'll get retirements as well as deaths. Hopefully the script writers will handle this better than they did for Kathy Perks who reappeared after years as a silent character and then was written out for good over a period of about a week.

Somehow they'll need to write Peggy out now as June Spencer is over 100 and has retired, and one wonders how long Jill will be around as Patricia Greene is in her nineties now.

Judy Bennett, the actress who played Schula for decades has retired and Schula has moved to Sunderland on missionary work. In real life she is married to Charles Collingwood (Brine) so whether he'll shortly have a fatal heart attack in order to retire wouldn't be a total surprise.

They'll also have to find a way of dealing with Robert Snell's character as the actor has actually passed way

Smiler.

Haven't listened for a while.

Has Jasper Carrot entered the show as the cantankerous resident in the care home?

Being Haley Jordan's (Lucy Davis) actual dad, it would be mildly amusing.

I listened to it today,

talk about mundane boring drivel

I thought it was supposed to be about/surrounding farming issues.

Nope, not a bit of it, no word of farm mentioned

switched it off happy in the knowledge it'll be another 5-6 years before I bother again.

Not true. Farming was mentioned several times.

Well, they can't tell us he's back and then do nothing with it. smile

I wonder if Helen will end up going to America with Lee to escape.

In 1966, when Jennifer Aldridge (Archer at the time) got pregnant out or wedlock, she received several letters from a family in Birmingham inviting her to stay with them while she had the baby because they wouldn't judge her. Their son (Jennifer's "new brother" was decorating the spare room in anticipation of her arrival. They sent money for a train ticket, and said her 'brother' would meet her at the station.

Peggy Archer also got letters, one of which asked her "How can you not know your own daughter is pregnant? Don't you listen to the programme?"

Excellent! My husband enjoyed it so much he listened to it twice. Not often you hear the words "shagged" and "slut" in the Archers wobble
