Dug this out of storage over the weekend and had forgotten what a superbly original film it was....

Highly recommended if you like Sci-Fi.

Excellent film.

Best to not even talk about the two sequels.

It was on last night on the Horror channel with the first sequel on straight after. Trying to be more hi-tech just didn't cut it with the second one, it had none of the tension or anticipation of the first and the ending was awful too.

Were the sequels called "Cube Squared" and "Cube Cubed"?

Cube 2: Hyper cube and Cube Zero (a prequel to the original Cube).

Cube is a great film. I always thought Saw borrowed a lot elements and became commercially successful because of it. When you realise it was made as part (from memory) of a Toronto film students, on a budget (again from memory) of around $100,000 - it is amazing what was achieved, especially in the visual effects department.

I liked Cube 2, whilst not on the same level as Cube, it started swaying into hyper dimensions etc, which was at least interesting.

Cube Zero well that was just pathetic.

Yep, stunning film.

Amazing how far effects can go when zero cash is spent on the set!

This thread made me watch it again tonight.

I can't remember where I heard it, whether it was the DVD commentary or imdb, but they had just the one set and changed the bulb colours to represent different rooms. Good concept, good characters (and character evolution), clever enough without being pretentious, good filming, good acting, good direction - the list goes on.

Either way, it's a film that should be shown on all uni courses that involve any sort of film making element. Top banana.

yes I think they had two cubes so that they could film themselves going between each room. Amazing what they achieved really.

Errrr... We are talking about the film set in the series of boxes right? That's terribly acted and borderline so-bad-its-almost-good?

Surprised at the love for it... Concept is interesting though.
