My missus has just commented that when he picked up the microphone it looked like a dick, complete with bell-end.
+1 I saw that and covered the kids eyes over.cannot believe she did not even mention the crappy looking container outside, looks a right st hole of a place.
As for the container outside, these places have to be on ex industrial sites or the cost of the building leaves you dead in the water, the outside was pretty much industry standard, if not slightly better as it was not obviously sharing a car park with a plumbers merchant or similar.
He seemed to just come out with "oh I already tried that" all the time. well maybe you didn't try it quite right.
Surely for something like this your potential customers change all the time. It's fundamentally NOT like running a tea shop where the same customers might come back time and time again for years and years if they like it. He's got each customer for a few years each while their kids are of the correct age group but after that (unless they have more kids) they're not coming back whatever he does. It's absolutely critical that he puts a ton of effort into getting new customers to replace the ones bleeding away naturally as their kids just get too old.

Had the feeling his Mrs had a strong word with him after the visit to Blockbusters. She saw the need for change and suddenly changes happened.
Have to say he did come up with some good ideas like the vouchers and the kids haircuts. That was a real left field idea and I was impressed by that, having been through the pain of taking little ones to barbers.
Really did need to move that container to the other side of the car park though. Make people want to approach it and come in.

You also would have through he could have painted the frontage to make it look a bit more attractive and a bit less 'warehouse'
The soft play centres were I live have tried to become nurseries as well during the week and one has a mini bus to pick children up form local schools for an after school type club.
The money seems to be in regular income such as this and from regular parties

The vouchers were a good idea sort of, but were offered during May half term which should be your busiest time so less need to entice people in. I was starting to wonder whether this half of the series featured the small business owners who'd been forced at gunpoint to have Alex in there giving them free business consultancy (I assume it's free) given the way they seen to not accept she might know more than they do. But he did appear to see the light part-way through at least. Yes, given the space-oriented them of the place, how hard would it have been to paint that container to look like a space shuttle or something? I assume it's used for storage, not just dumped there as the world's largest bike rack. I sympathised with his reluctance to visit his more-recently-started competitor to see why they were doing better, but I did wonder whether no-one on his staff could go, and it would have been less obvious for them to just go as customers (and take some kids), not with an arranged meeting with the owners.
I thought there might have been a break whilst this cleared up? - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2791608/bo... court proceedings hit the news in October, break was at the end of September. And then no slot until now to continue?

You might well be right there.I recall another programmer a few years ago (BBC4 I think) that may have featured the same shop, but I'm not 100% sure.
The problem with that type of business is that they will do will in a booming economy and very badly in recession.
When people feel well off they spend lots of money on frivolous things (I recall noticing lots of this type of business a few years ago; kids play things, dog grooming, lawn mowing, nappy washings and other assorted crap). But when the economy goes pear shaped then it's these same businesses that are the first to suffer as people stop spending money on them. I'd think it's a very risky business to be in.

charging for accompanying adults to enter is not a way to attract custom either. Only a £1 I know but maybe dad would pop in for a coffee and a look around instead of dropping mummy and kids at the door and clearing off to B&Q next door.
Hope I have not been too sexist in that comment.
