She got through all of last night's episode without mentioning her Dad.

Not one of that music lovers team recognised a concertina ?

And I was just thinking about squeezing two things together. I'm not really Only Connect material, to be honest.

She's not done that for ages now.

I thought it might have been "box". Because isn't a concertina also called a squeezebox and they also had a form with boxes on - so "box ticking".

But last nights were way easier than the previous week. I normally get most of the wall and most of the missing vowels but last week I got none of those.

Apart from the previous week's episode when she told everyone her dad's birthday, and then checked later in the show to make sure everyone had memorised it!

However I can forgive Victoria most things, apart from how scathing and condescending she is about anything "normal" that doesn't happen to be one of her pet hobbies.

She claimed last night to have little to no experience of X Box and Nintendo console stuff .

I didn't think that is especially odd. I must be a similar age and have never knowingly played on an XBox or Nintendo, despite owning a number of Playstations.

You might be right there. But she certainly does not mention him almost every week, which she used to do.

I was thinking that it was things whose names ended in "ena", rather than rhyming with the sound "eena", and I wondered if they were thinking the same thing.

You think she needs the show? You do know what she does for a "day" job, and how much she rakes in from it?
Er. No.

What does she do for a day job?

And how much does she get from it?
She's a pro poker player and she's won $2.5m in tournaments.
Over 20 years. And in the main from two tournament wins. It’s hardly her ‘day job’. In fact, she won nothing on the circuit in 2015,16,18 and 19. 2017 she won $8k and in 2020 she won $30k.
You might want to check the thread date.
I posted that in 2014.

You need to have a word with ajprice for bumping it, not me.

Not that it particularly matters, her day job has never been poker, but it’s a good story.

To be fair to Zad though when he posted it 7 years ago he could be forgiven for not knowing she'd win next to nothing in the next 6yrs biggrin

Vicky was rightly impressed, takes some memory to recall the position of letters on a qwerty.

My wife was annoyed with Victoria Coren the week before when she made a sniffy comment about Norwich when one of the teams mentioned it having two cathedrals, think Coren replied with something like "two cathedrals? Are they particularly pious in Norwich?" when we actually do have two cathedrals!

That only makes sense if you don't know what pious means smile

Worthy winners last night. Weirdly easy questions and wall though, managed to get 5 questions right and completed both walls. Best result ever for me!

Saw Frances has been taking some flack on twitter for telling their teammates to "do your job!" hehe

We struggled with the first wall but got the second one. I say we, I mean the wife! Aced the missing vowels though.
