Life in the fast lane

Mother - "does driving on the motorway in the rain scare you?"
Daughter - "only when you're driving"
Says it all really. Especially after the unfortunately timed breakdwown she had in the roadworks last week, where she panicked so badly she had to be reminded to turn on the hazard lights by her own daughter

And people not chucking litter out of their cars.
What I can't help noticing is how many problems there are regarding hazards in live lanes such as accidents and breakdowns and people at the peril of traffic coming at them. Then there are Highways Agency workers and emergency service workers who can't get through to incidents without a clear hard shoulder. Despite that there was a Highways Agency officer last week saying Smart Motorways are the future of motorways. It really does seem to be making everything more difficult and dangerous than it needs to be.
