Watched The Call last night. Quite a good film, and kept me gripped.

Right until the last minute.

When it switched completely and became utterly stupid.

Any other films?

Silver Dream Racer.

The first few times I saw it on TV they cut to the credits prior to the 'real' ending. The first time I saw the 'real' ending I was shocked and now never bother to watch it.

The Shawshank Redemption

I'm with Kermode, the final “Return to Zihuatanejo” scene wasn't needed.

Guy Ritchie's Revolver.
Despite the fact it was universally panned- I thought revolver was brilliant.....right up until the end that was so st, it rendered the whole film pointless.

War of the Worlds.

And more recently I quite enjoyed Non-Stop until the ending.

Contact.

Ruined by the complete lack of an ending.
It's as though they got to the end, spotted how long film was, then went "Right, let's finish this up in 2 minutes"

Sunshine.

Awesome until the last 5 minutes.

Contact is a good shout.

Out of interest, how should Contact have ended in your view?

Prometheus for me. Never has a world seen evolution happen so fast.

I thought Men in Black 3 could have been so much better if it ended 5 minutes earlier than it did tbh.

AI - there was a point it should have ended. Then they added more.

Edge of Tomorrow - not sure what happened there, but the end didn't make much sense in context of the rest of the film.

Downfall. Can't believe the main character commits suicide at the end!

Nothing wrong with the ending of War of the Worlds. It fits in with the original timeframe of the book.

Wasn't the final part of the film taken over by another director - I thought it was a great film and could have been brilliant if it didn't have the 'American' ending to it.

Snowpiercer - I wasn't convinced by the ending, didn't really add up but not sure what else could have been done. But it makes more sense in some ways than the original one in the book

In the book everyone dies from a plague released on the train except for the male lead, who is the sole survivor.

I saw the real ending first. Now I can't watch it in case it is the cut version.

Strangely enough I watched that today.

It's a good film, and beautifully made. But one of the bestest films ever, ever, ever?

No.
