I was reading Nev Schulman's, host of MTV's Catfish, new book. When it lead to me an interesting find about how modern social sites, have somewhat ruined the way we communicate and grasp at reality in the modern world. I think it's sad that it's easier to meet a girl on the internet nowadays, instead if running into someone on the street or in a bar.

Times have changed, and not necessarily for the best.

Check this out, it's NSFW:

Why is it a bad thing that you can meet a partner in a new place? I met my girlfriend online, and we're very happy together - currently looking for somewhere to move in together.

Don't judge other people because you don't understand or feel comfortable with technology.

Why is that bad? It's just another place to meet people. If it weren't for social media I wouldn't have met the friends I've made in Saint Petersburg and my holiday wouldn't have been anywhere near as fun.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it'd bad.

I think you misunderstood.

More than anyone on this forum, I appreciate and understand technology.

I met my fiancée online and live half way around the world from each other.

My point isn't that it's bad, it's just different. It's taken over the world.

It's good, but it can also be very bad.

Rubbish. More choice is better. It hasn't stopped people from hitting bars on a Friday night, so the "old" opportunities still exist.

The Internet today.... is being ruined with clickbait articles starting "You need to watch this.. blah blah bks" or "15 fun facts about Richard Branson".

The whole online dating thing is very odd.

I have numerous friends that are on match etc. and are very open to going on dates through Match etc. yet are very shy / closed when approached by someone in a bar for example....

Hhhmm, strange behaviour but presumably they feel more in control when logging onto match to check messages and read profiles etc.

And OP, the internet can make fairly large changes - some petitions etc.
