Star Wars. Why fly in a straight line allthe way down the trench? Why not just fly in towards the end?
.
To allow time for the targetting computer to lock on?IIRC it wobbled around the hole for a bit before flashing as on target(not that Luke needed to do that, shame Obi Wan didnt talk to him BEFORE he had to endure Dad on his tail for several minutes ).

Two reasons. - It was a tactical move to avoid the turbo-lasers and other defensive capabilities.
- It made for an exciting sequence for the film.
In a building why do they always run to the top floor? Where the hell are you supposed to go after that?
I would go DOWN and escape that way.
Another odd one. Why all of a sudden do people walk into a dark building and just know something evil is going to happen? Even though nothing at all has happened in the last 3/4 of the film.

The Strain (just started) how a huge 9ft box filled with soil could get on a flight to the USA from Germany these days is unexplained - they actually say its impossible but give no other comment. I say it couldn't happen and stop the programme now!
Perhaps they will explain in future episodesSecret Service is a fine Bond film, but has the most stupid sequence in Bond, with the voice-over, ruins the whole mid-section.

and also - why does no-one think it odd that the engineers turn up 20 minutes after the blast to clean up and nick the gold....it takes 20 minutes to get from macys to times square in traffic...
Also those adverts, "little (insert name of african child) has to walk 8 miles every day to fetch water..." Why not just move nearer? makes no sense, and equally, why do I pay £425 a year to Yorkshire Water when Oxfam can provide water to a whole village for £3 a month?????
Thanks for that, wine has now been sprayed across my iPad and my nose hurts...Also those adverts, "little (insert name of african child) has to walk 8 miles every day to fetch water..." In Moonraker, why the hell was the shuttle that they stole from the 747 full of fuel? And even if the damned thing was fuelled for the stupidest of reasons, it couldn't take-off like that and fly anyway.
Yes, I know it's a plot device, but MUCH better to have a rogue pilot in the NASA crew during a mission. He'd kill the other crew members in a devious way (something like Jack Pettaci's double did in Thunderball) and then divert to Drax's secret landing site.

On a similar note, why on earth was the ED-209 prototype loaded with live ammunition? Yes, I know it's a plot device, but MUCH better to have a rogue pilot in the NASA crew during a mission. (I mean, apart from the fact that it was in keeping with the tone of the film)
Independence Day.
The US government have decided it's OK to use nukes over their own cities.
It doesn't work because the aliens have shields.
Jeff Goldblum gets their shields down for a very short period, but instead of whopping a nuke in to each alien ship worldwide, the US get every pilot they can to attack just one ship, then tell the rest of the world how to bring them down (flying a drunk in to the main weapon at the point of firing), by which time, according to Jeff's original projection, the shield would've been up again in any case.

I thought the point was the nuke was intended to be powerful enough to break the shield. Once the shield is no longer there they can go back to conventional weapons and not destroy the cities. Although the massive spacecraft that once covered the entire area once shot down would've likely yielded similar results. The US government have decided it's OK to use nukes over their own cities.

Most films in the last 20 years in which it seems that the only way to operate a computer is to type in the instructions using the keyboard.
And the better a computer genius they are, the faster they type.Want to make yourself look like a Pro hacker? Go to:

and type any old random crap as fast as you can.
Don't forget to say "Ah, a UNIX system!" at the start and "We're in!" at the end.
The Strain - you know the infected have massive alien sucky things and want to kill you but hey, stand there and look stunned when they come near you - take your time, look shocked every time and don't kill them until you've given them a good chnce to attack you.
