Tonight's the night then.
I've also noticed Vue are showing 2001: A Space Odyssey in November and Bladerunner in December
I can't do tonight; it's my mums birthday (strange - my mum's birthday is halloween, and the OH shares her birthday with Hitler. Woe. ), so Bladerunner and 2001 will make up for it I've also noticed Vue are showing 2001: A Space Odyssey in November and Bladerunner in December

I noticed they have another showing tomorrow at 1:30pm at the Vue that is local to me.Tickets booked, not so fussed about Alien, but really looking forward to Aliens on the big screen

Great few hours in the cinema, good crowd too. Bit of a shame about the sound in Alien, but they fixed it for Aliens. I'm not sure the first Alien was supposed to look comical, but most of the cinema laughed when it burst out of his chest and scuttled away.
Thoroughly enjoyed last night, and to finally see them on a big screen was great, yes a small sound issue with the film but I didn't feel it spoiled it.I found Alien hasn't aged as well as Aliens has. re the chestburster, I think we've seen it so much on TV, that to finally see it on the big screen the horror of the surprise has gone, and the alien looks silly compared to what can be done today

It reminded me of the Polymorph from Red Dwarf.I found Alien hasn't aged as well as Aliens has. re the chestburster, I think we've seen it so much on TV, that to finally see it on the big screen the horror of the surprise has gone, and the alien looks silly compared to what can be done today
Where were you sitting? I was chatting to a chap and I had a feeling he is a PH'er, but didn't like to ask, in true British style and all.
If you're complaining about the chest burster, perhaps elderly sci fri isn't for you?
Frankly, even though I aknowledge the effects are dated, the idea that people would laugh I find insulting in the extreme; we all know it's not real. It's a fking movie. The effects team do the best they can. And expectations of spatter perfect visuals are wildly unreasonable.
Most viewers, the intelligent respectful ones, can suspend disbelief.
It takes a certain special brand of moron to absorb what's happening on screen, and assume that it will be all so close to real life there's no telling between the two.
Put bluntly, to laugh at the effects is to suggest you were duped into believing what's happening prior to the questionable effects was possible in the first place. But also shows a total lack of respect for the creative process.
In short, it's the mark of a retard.

no one is complaining about that scene, all i said was that it has aged badly and isn't as shocking as it once was. Frankly you're ranting over nothing.Frankly, even though I aknowledge the effects are dated, the idea that people would laugh I find insulting in the extreme; we all know it's not real.
