Why is it we seem to get less and less Top Gear these days? I miss 2 seasons a year.

So what do we reckon then

Hammond - Mustang(?)
May - 928
Clarkson - Esprit

Apologies if it says in the article, I didn't read it!

Whatever Clarkson has he will probably destroy it, as seems to happen in all the "specials".

It is down to the costs of production of their 'specials' and the time it takes to make each one. I believe one or two have cost over £250,000 and take three weeks to film and months to prepare. These sell very well for BBC Worldwide and make the production company serious money....more so than the weekly seven or eight shows each year.

Interesting, both pictures appear to have been taken on a slope.

Some Lovely Pics from the Argentine press.

Below is my attempt at using translator software on part of the article.

Top Gear , the program 's most famous cars in the world , recorded for the next two weeks an episode in Argentina's Patagonia. The famous BBC show filmed a cruise down Route 40, linking Bariloche con Ushuaia. So is it confirmed to Autoblog several local sources, who participated in the production of the program during the last two months .
The photos that illustrate this paper were taken this afternoon by José Bellora , paparazzo and correspondent Autoblog header in Bariloche. The images belong to the Llao Llao Hotel parking lot, where the three classic sports that the stars will cruise are: a Porsche 928 GT, a Lotus Esprit V8 and a Ford Mustang Mach 1 All three have RHD.
For the uninitiated , it's a classic Top Gear expose less appropriate cars to the most extreme situations . Everything indicates that this voyage will mark a new milestone , where it is difficult to imagine that these three collector car can reach the goal in the same state
The three stars and part of the production team (all Argentines) are in the hotel from this weekend. Today also got the support vehicles that move to film crews : Toyota Hilux and SW4.
For this Wednesday they have booked rooms on behalf of the three hosts of the show : Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. It is estimated that the journey will start on Friday. It would take almost two weeks to get to Ushuaia.
From Bariloche, Bellora reported : "The cars were unlocked, but it did not seem fair play to open the doors . We were going to look like the ' Italian garden '. I know the Route 40 and those cars with that clearance, they will be plowing all the way. Those who know the ground know that, between the tracks, always rises a pile of stones. It is impossible to move forward with that clearance! If you really go for the 40, the only sound will be the Mustang. And I hope you have brought several windshield replacements. A minor detail is the amount of spare wheels that the cars will need , especially the Porsche.

This has all the ingredients to be the best one-off TG ever made.

A Lotus that will no doubt "win", a subtle comment or two about the Falklands, and a trip round the 3rd most beautiful country on Earth (Argentina, after Afghanistan and Scotland).

I agree, but whilst pretty, I'm sure there are many far more beautiful places on Earth than Afghanistan.

Three nice, reasonably rare cars - hope they don't do their usual trick and wreck them frown

Bariloche and the lakes area of Argentina is absolutely stunning scenery wise.

The parts I saw were, in the main, pretty breathtaking. Being up to my hips in the snow in a mountain range outside Kabul tipped me over the edge!

Anyway, back to TG.

Possibly a combination of:
running out of ideas/involved in other projects/no financial incentive for them to do so
