If you liked Cabin Pressure then try John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme. Lots of very clever and original sketches.

I'm pretty new to listening to Comedy on Radio4, mainly via the Iplayer whilst I'm working.

Have listened to a couple of episodes of Cabin Pressure and really loved it but there doesn't seem to be any more available.

Found Britian versus the World quite good and The Now Show/News Quiz too also listened to the available episodes of So Wrong It's Right with Charlie Brooker.

Anything else I should be giving a go?
The Masterson Inheritance

Laura Solon (worth it for China Lion alone, IMO, but it's all pretty funny)

One thing I did think was funny was a woman (yes, she was feminist and all that, but nevertheless I thought this was funny), Thursday night 6.30 a few weeks ago, the one where Fred McCauley did the male lines.

'That actor who plays Nigel Farage is brilliant isn't he, never comes out of character, never a slip that gives the game away'
Bridget Christie/Mind The Gap.
Jesus. That was another show that almost moved me to reduce the radio to its component parts in a fit of rage.

That was a fantastic radio series.

Not only China Lion - but the 'new Neighbour' with wind chime / pottery hedgehog.

Thanks for the suggestions, sadly it looks like The Masterson Inheritance isn't available on iPlayer Radio but there is one episode of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme so have added it to my "listen to" list. smile

Also try Bleak Expectations if you can find it. It's bloody marvellous.

Just been listening to the new series of Newsjack podcasts.

Somehow, unbelievably, they've made it worse. Actually worse. It can't have been possible, but it has been done.

In case you missed it, last weeks Newsquiz is worth a listen if only for Jeremy Hardy's rant about a certain 'Jeremy Clarkson'.

Mr. Hardy, we learn, is not a fan.

But he also puts his foot in it with other panellists, and gets corrected. Which is probably a rare happening.

Will have to have a listen, love to hear that smug prick get taken down a peg or two.

Just to add, the latest 'Deadringers' on R4 is very good imho.

The treatment of the Greens, Milliband, Farage etc nicely weighted and properly rude at times.

Will it last?

Smiler.

Loved that series.

The French thing was spectacular.

Some other great ones from my favourite stash:

  • 40 Nights in the Wildebeest
  • The Wildebeest Years
  • Fellah's Hour with the Cheese Shop
  • The Consultants
  • Doon Your Way
  • 15 Storeys High
  • The Consultants
  • Recorded for Training Purposes
All courtesy of Nerd of the Herd before its demise frown

The one at Christmas was very good, a beacon in an otherwise comedy blackout.

Love her or hate her it won't be the same. What the hell will lefty Hardy do now without his weekly soapbox.

For someone forming a special interest party with aims like that, I'm surprised she hasn't commented on the men one side, women the other Labour party rally. You would have thought that given her stated aims that would have been an ideal platform with which to show how she offered an alternative especially for women.

I wonder what special circumstances about that particular event kept her quiet? scratchchin

I've got a fiver that says her friend, Susan Calman gets The News Quiz gig.

If Hardy alone wasn't enough to get me to turn off, that will be the final straw. Odious woman....

Interesting fact: Susan Calman is actually a lesbian and is married, but she doesn't like to talk about it.
