given that the real Detectorists wanted nothing to do with it as they thought the programme would take the piss, its such a charming programme and yes I am also tempted to get a detector.

Sure I read somewhere that Mackenzie Crook now owns the TR7

Just caught up, I'll spoiler this in case others aren't up to date. the scene between Lance and his daughter, giving her the presents and maintenance money, with her walking out, was brilliant.

I still think it's a wonderfully written and great hidden gem. Please, please, please do a third series.

Really enjoying series 2. EP4 made me chuckle when Terry said "Yeah, alright Varde, let someone else get a word in", after barely hearing a word from her in all previous episodes.

I love the Russell-Hugh double act as well. The humour is so subtle.

Toby has nabbed Mackenzie's girlfriend for his new drama series Capital - "On one day, the people of one South London street all receive an anonymous postcard with the simple message 'we want what you have'. Its unsettling ripples affect every corner of the community". Toby plays a rich banker and Rachael is his shamelessly materialistic wife; sounds good!

Cheers for the heads-up, it does sound good. Off to set the recorder for Tuesday. smile

Indeed it is. A rarity these days. Compare it to the likes of Citizen Kahn. Actually don't bother laugh

THere are a tonne...a tonne of awful 'by the numbers' sitcoms today.

Toby is a great actor who I haven't seen appear in any wk, so I'll watch him in owt.
I hope they repeat the Detectorists.

Keeping with the metal theme - Rachael Stirling has a nice set of pins.

Anyone else find this partnership odd as the Detectorists is still running.

Myself and Mrs TDM have watched this from the first episode of series one, and have loved it, as everyone says it's the gentle humour and the characters are just sublime....

And I don't trust the German either.........

Going by his dirty boots and detector it looks like he has been upto something. I wonder if he is a spy for Simon & Garfunkle?

My guess, and it was suggested in last weeks episode when he cut off S & G as they tried to say something, is that the crashed plane was carrying booty in secret and he wants it.

I find the Mackenzie/Rachel partnership a bit odd. His character is punching above his weight, to put it diplomatically.
That seemed to be part of the joke in the first series, that this lovely woman would be attracted to this scruffy nerdy bloke, but it's more of a strain in this.
