I agree. A few gentle laughs seem to be working well. Looking forward to next weeks after the explosion

It's ok for passing the time on the ipad on the train, no chance of laughing out loud I am afraid.

I don't think this one is about laughing out loud. It's gentle, well observed character comedy and very well made, written and acted. I'm not sure I've laughed out loud during any of the three episodes so far but I'm enjoying it more than anything I've seen in a long time, except possibly True Detective.

True Detective was very good. Did you not cringe during the button presentation!

The button scene reminded me of most clubs, I've recently moved and was part of a pub club/photography group where I was living, went to a local camera club Monday night and it was like the button scene just lots of people showing me photos of birds and flowers I was falling asleep so escaped at half time 1hr40 into it!!!

You could also relate it to meeting a VW enthusiast they will bore you to death with how amazing VW's are biggrin

/ opens eye with fingers - "Wow, that's lemony!"

This show is great (so I guess it'll be all over soon, like a US show that's been cancelled)

You're not wrong! I was in a local VW club late 70s/early 80s, whose members (including me) all swore we'd never drive anything except Beetles, which were the best cars ever made (we kept telling ourselves, and anyone else who would listen).smile

By the way I'm really enjoying my Mazda, thank you.drivingbiggrin

The VW club meetings tended to be just like the buttons talk. We'd get 'guest speakers' in (ie some member's next door neighbour) to give us talks on subjects totally unrelated to Volkswagens. Like the guy who showed us his massive collection of slides on mumming and pace egging (google it if you want to - but you really won't want to). Gawd, never been so boredsleep.

Oh yeah but if you're going to do something (metal detecting, motor racing, line-dancing, whatever) then take it seriously. That's partly why I think the programme works so well, it's not mocking anyone.

Caught up on the first 3 episodes tonight. A couple of chuckles during episode 3. Series linked.

I think this is a brilliant programme. They had me from the "Jim Fixed it for Me" medallion. Genius!

Not dark enough having the club president survive relatively unscathed.

Loving it. Reminds me so much of an amateur radio club hehe Hated it to start with but now warming to it although I suppose its a one off.

Amazed that they used the "C" word.
