Just finished catching up with this: what a thoroughly enjoyable series.

Found myself smiling the whole way through, brilliant writing, beautifully shot and a great cast, absolutely spot on!

Look forward to more smile

Narrr! I dont want them to find it - besides Lance doesnt need the money.

...or will Simon and Garfunckle get there first?!

Does anyone know where this was filmed?

Doesn't look like where it is set (Danebury appears to be Maldon on the map they looked at in the pub).

Mainly the Suffolk coast according to Google. I hadn't looked more accurate spots though.

"Filming for Detectorists took place on location in Suffolk and Essex. Creative England’s Production Services team were contacted by the show’s Location Manager and asked to source a suitable production base, locations and crew. Due to the show’s metal detector storyline, finding photogenic fields was a top priority. Within 24 hours of receiving the enquiry, Production Liaison Manager Hayley Armstrong had used her in-depth knowledge of the area to arrange a recce to Suffolk’s Bentwater Parks and the RAF Wethersfield in Essex.

The market town of Framlingham was ultimately chosen as the production’s main base, with several locations in the area used for key scenes throughout the series. Whilst watching Detectorists keep an eye out for the Panorama Gift Shop, White Horse Pub and Castle Inn, as well as numerous fields and neighbouring farms.

Once filming had commenced, our Locations team were able to make useful introductions to Local Authorities and Film Friendly Partners to ensure a smooth shoot. Watch out for recognisable spots such as The King’s Head pub in Orford, The Crown in Great Glemham and Ipswich’s Mecca Bingo."

Thanks. I thought it looked up that way. Not enough mud for around Maldon!

About 4 miles in my case and even closer to the Crown - now closed and up for sale again. Don't know why Lance drove home from the quiz night, it's only a 200yds or so to his flat !!

It's the only reliable driving distance of a TR7.

Hope so- I had to watch the repeat run again: excellent, understated comedy. With the added bonus of Rachael Stirling (Becky) cloud9

Brilliant news. I explained it to a few people I know and I got funny looks then they come back to me and say they've watched the whole series and want series 2 to come round. Great TV.
