Having never read the book, I had only seen the trailer for this, even seeing that did not prepare for this film, very good & went a way I didn't expect.
I heard the film has a different ending to the book. Can anyone confirm if this is true?
If so can anyone pm me the book ending, it be interested to see which way it was originally ended.
As far as i remember the ending is the same, i went to the film having heard it was different, have to say i think the ending could have been done better after a what was a good read.I heard the film has a different ending to the book. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I saw it last night with Mrs Purple Turtle, both of us really liked it, not having read the book but liking the look of the trailer.
It's a bit on the long side at 2.5hrs, I need a really good film to hold my attention that long, it did very much so. I thought both the leads were excellent, especially as I don't really rate Ben Affleck as an actor, he just seems to always play Ben Affleck!
But yes, overall, recommended.

Despite being a terrible snob when it comes to best sellers(people tell me ) I enjoyed the book hugely . Plot was , to say the least, wildly implausible but the writing was terrific and the observation of the 24 news culture finely drawn. The film- even darker I thought and I enjoyed it immensely. Unusual for a good book to be a good film and vice versa without substantial editing of plot but Gillian Flynn, who wrote the book and the film script, has done a wonderful job . Some nice filmic references too- no spoiler but Psycho was nicely quoted. Great look to the film too- think Blue Velvet or American Beauty .

Haven't read the book - just got back from seeing the film.
Best film I have seen in a good few years. The audience was absolutely silent when the lights came up and credits were rolling. Quite surreal.
So was the audience I sat in, but it seemed we expected more than the ending delivered, rather than stunned silence.Best film I have seen in a good few years. The audience was absolutely silent when the lights came up and credits were rolling. Quite surreal.

Saw this last night and thought it was superb. Classic Fincher without being too flashy - he let's the narrative do the work for him.
I didn't mind the ending - visually it worked better than it did in the book (although in the book she had more of a hold over him than is portrayed in the film) and I quite like the fact it's not all tied up with bow for the audience.
One scene in particular enters the hall of memorable scenes! Helped by the awesomely loud "whomp whomp" of the excellent soundtrack.
Definitely the best film I have seen in a good while.

Agreed, a glib, disappointing film.ste. Massive plot holes make is simply nonsense.
I cannot believe that some people feel that it's the best film they've seen in a while... maybe if you live in a bubble.
Too many good films (some of them foreign language) do not make it on the big screens in many of our towns and cities. We're left with second rate stuff like this and superhero films. Dire.
I agree about the foreign film point- the fare at my local multiplex is utterly dire unless you like fast n furious drivel , fart jokes and superheroes. But actually I enjoyed Gone Girl despite being a terrible film snob - there again I enjoyed the book which for a best seller was very well written and a cut above the utterly dire Robert Galbraith stuff (ie JK Rowling )
