Official Synopsis said:
From director Clint Eastwood comes “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. But there was much more to him than his skill as a sharpshooter. U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the SEAL creed to “leave no man behind.” But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.

I hope this doesn't fall foul to hyperbole and we lose the human story.

the premise is good though and in cooper and eastwood we have very capable leads...

What about a film where Sienna Miller gets her kit off and also kills jihadists with a sniper rifle?

Isn't that basically the plot of Enemy at the Gates?

Might be an ok film.

You never know someone might protest this one and it may never get released.

Saw this last night, very disturbing account of war and the decisions he had to make. 10 out of 10 from me.

^^^ Yep, watched last night.

Bradley Cooper is superb.

I would say that it isn't as good as The Hurt Locker, but it's close.

Yep, saw this on Friday and give it 9/10! Quality film with plenty of action but a great story and great account of Chris Kyle's life. After 4 tours what a horrible way to die though.

It might be ok, but while the book is alright you quickly tire of the "I'm just so fking good" that seems to plague American biographies, that and the constant bar fights off tour for the smallest of things meant that it is one of the few books I didn't finish. I'm sure he really was a top chap and a superb soldier & colleague but his own book puts him in a very poor light away from the battle field before he started to assist other veterans.
Especially if one considers it might be partially bullst. Jesse Ventura took his widow to court over stuff in the book regarding himself, and won.

It really is a cruel world at times. RIP to a hero. Next time I'm in a nice pub, I shall raise a glass to him.

It's not just the Ventura story that's bullst, there's other stuff like killing two carjackers, having a secret squirrel direct line to the Pentagon that he can give to the cops to get him out of trouble and shooting looters from the top of the Superdome during Katrina. You'd think he'd have enough genuine stories that he wouldn't have to make things up.
