Your either with us or against us and by us I mean people who want good films being green lighted.
I know but ghostbusters is my favourite film and I missed it at the cinema as I wasn't born. I feel I have to see this if only to warn others. Your either with us or against us and by us I mean people who want good films being green lighted.
I have to say the special effects on my phone at least look amazing. It's everything I wanted the first two to look like.
But that's what annoys me. Ive saw the first two trailers and can safely say I've now seen the film.
It's scene for scene the exact same as the first. This would be fine if there was adult humour in it. I watched ghostbusters as a kid and never realised how funny it was till I was much older.
This seems like in your face gags. You'd have to be a fking retard not to know that a certain scene was meant to be a gag and that's what pisses me off.
I'll go with the o/h and I'll guarantee she enjoys it or at least goes "that wasn't so bad".
I'm so disssapointed. These women just aren't funny. Whats happening to comedy, the 80s produced some sublime comedy films that were really clever. This is just American Pie crap humour.

Yeah.
The sad ting about Ernie's role is that it was reduced from a General who helped set up the thing to some johnny-come-lately who comes on as a basic handyman.
I do get to use the line frequently at work. "If there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say" though due to this. The sad ting about Ernie's role is that it was reduced from a General who helped set up the thing to some johnny-come-lately who comes on as a basic handyman.

DOG and i09 reviews both seemed okay.
I think it would have to be damm near perfect and even then it wouldn't keep everyone happy.
By the sounds of it they've made a perfectly good comedy film about ghosts but everyone's got their knickers in a twist because women are in it and it's called Ghostbusters...
oh get to fk. Have you read the pages on here, or elsewhere. I cant recall one comment like "oh no its all women" or similar. I think it would have to be damm near perfect and even then it wouldn't keep everyone happy.

They have replaced witty, subtle, intelligent dark comedy with in your face slapstick ste. I guarantee I could write the jokes before I see them. I'll know the punch line straight away.
Imagine airplane now imagine it featuring adam sandler. That's what they've done.

You've seen it then?
And yes, there are plenty of comments here about female vs make jokes.
No going Friday. But seeing as I've seen the first two over a thousand times and all the trailers I don't need to see the movie to see the direction they have went In. And yes, there are plenty of comments here about female vs make jokes.
Remember bad grandpa, I saw the trailer and thought looks awesome. Every single semi decent gag I'd seen over and over In trailers. It was st due to that.
I can confirm this film is pish. Don't get me wrong it never tanked as bad as I thought it would.
I liked the references to the first one. I liked in a way that it was a remake or reboot or whatever you call it. To me that felt better than carrying on the torch.
Whilst the plot was meh, there is little you can do tbh with it that hasn't been done. It certainly was ok though. And the special effects for some of the ghosts were great. Others not so much.
However, it was dramatically let down by some of the worst gags I have ever had the misfortune to witness. A fart joke. Sorry a fanny fart joke!!! Really. Come on. Usual racial stereotypes throughout the film.
Awful, awful slapstick gags. Random wacky muttering that seems to be the trend now. Just go off on a tangent without any wit, say random stuff and it's funny, apparently. All the gags were in the promos.
The sexism is what fked me off the most. A dashing receptionist that's male is portrayed as a fking retard. Someone couldn't be that stupid without being retarded, but the "jokes" wouldn't work I guess. So what we have now is role reversal from decades ago that wasn't funny. I thought girl power st was meant to be better than all that.
I actually didn't mind the four of them when they were being serious. You know what at times I thought, wow this is a new ghostbusters, it had that feel with these women at the serious moments but then bang a painfully unfunny gag that ruined it. For me ghostbusters was never really that funny in the first place. Yes there was a lot of gags and humour but it was quite dark and sucked you into thinking, this is an action movie. This could be real life. This one gives the impression of a cartoon. It tries to focus too much on making it a comedy when It good have been a good film if it was more serious.
The acting wasn't great as well. Bill Murray, etc were all fking woeful. The only decent bit of the whole movie was with Ernie. For a split second I actually thought this is ghostbusters
I honestly can't see me watching this ever again. Ghostbusters 2 wasn't brilliant but at least the cast had chemistry. There was none of that in this. It would completely tank if it wasn't living off the first two.
If your not that into ghostbusters wait for it to come out on video. If like me it's your favourite film go see for yourself but do not expect to enjoy it.
I looked around at the audience in the cinema. Phones constantly coming out. People talking to one another. Getting up for the toilet. Only a few people actually laughed at it and they were mostly mum's who you just know find mirandi hart funny.

Its a daft 12A film about ghosts, you review it like you were expecting high art.
I thought they mostly did a pretty good job.
What like the original that was nominated for two Oscars. The highest grossing comedy of the 80s. Ten weeks at the top of the box office. If adjusted for inflation in the top 40 best selling films. In everyone's top comedy lists. Not one bad review on it. I thought they mostly did a pretty good job.
Yeah. It's just a daft movie isn't it. Most people think of their childhood and think star wars. They demand high calibre follow ups. Mines was ghostbusters. Sp naturally I'm fked off when a lame reboot is flung out that can't even beat a mundane pixar film at the box office.

My kids laughed - I laughed.....job done!
I watched it. I reviewed it. I didn't like it. That's the whole point of threads like these on ph. But others seem to think they should belittle others input.

Definitely Egon writing the column, why would they lie to children?
Did anyone else watch The Real Ghostbusters as a young child and wonder why Venkmann sounded a lot like Garfield? Also only found out relatively recently they had to add the "Real" part for legal reasons, as there's another obscure TV show that was called The Ghostbusters.
Yup, obviously he was the voice of Garfield but that never occurred to me as a kid. Did anyone else watch The Real Ghostbusters as a young child and wonder why Venkmann sounded a lot like Garfield? All five season are on Netflix. When I stick them on I still can recall memories of watching them as a kid and large sections of them.

Well that's rather exciting, is that a still from GB3? If so, I felt a tingle downstairs, although after being bitterly disappointed by Michael Bay trashing another of my childhood favs, Transformers, I still can't bring myself to reach fever pitch excitement levels, so I'll just stick with a tingle for now.
I think my fav Ghostbusters memory is when I wrote into The Real Ghostbusters comic and got my letter published with an actual reply from Spengler! I think I asked why they don't get sucked into the traps when they operate them???
Sorry to disappoint, that was taken years ago at a fans award show or something.
