He was slimy - but Dana was a strong, independent character and saw right through his act.

She only warmed to him later after getting to know him better and finally fell for him after he put his life on the line to save her and the city. Her character wasn't played for a fool and she wasn't made out to be an idiot (unlike pretty much all of the men in GB3).
My point was that the female lead had elements of Venkman in the drooly/slimy area. She and the Zedmore sub were the better half of the team.

watched this last night, utter rubbish.

for so called top comic writers it wasn't funny, even the Chris Hemsworth character being stupid wasn't that funny.

I saw this yesterday & it is truly st, it has nothing to do with the cast the script is terrible the humour wasn't there.

This was easily the worst film I have seen in a long time.

Even I am going to wait until i have watched it before I slag it off.
Fair enough, a decent stance to take.

However, that trailer does make it look diafkingohmybksically bad.
Well I watched it. It's fking dire.
Even Mrs Gearchange who was half watching it with me and the kids offered up the review of "jesus - this really is st isn't it?"

Fair enough - but I think the original point was that there was nothing in the Character of Kevin to balance this.

My fiancée wanted to watch it because she is a big SNL fan.

Even she thought the film was terrible. hehe

Even though it's done for comic effect I think it does a good job of explaining why the remake failed and why the original worked so well. Amazing the difference editing and soundtrack have on a scene.

Yeah, the son and tunnel scene being two excellent examples.
O take it you've already watched it? biggrin

Some people may call him an old drunk murderer but he does do a good movie review.

Hopefully he'll have a crack at Rogue One next, or how about the once-promised Star Trek 5?

Watched a bit of this on Ch4 last night.

Terrible film as predicted/expected.

The characters in the remake were interchangeable whereas the original you had 4 distinct characters: Egon - the geek, Ray - big kid at heart, Peter - cynic, Winston - down-at-earth

The comedy tone was all wrong and poorly conceived and scripted - done by committee to please Sony execs. You can't blame the gender reversal - you could easily put Will Ferrell, et al doing dumbed down comedy. And that's the problem. The original was gave you something implausible in a believable world, characters played straight which gives you its charm and arguably its cult status in the same way BTTF works because of the tone of the comedy.
