These SJW types seem to do nothing except obsess about Trump 24x7 ... it's quite disturbing.

Financially? I doubt it would make the top 10 of the past 5 years. Made about $80m more than its production budget and had loads of licencing deals (Lego, Playmobil etc) over and above most movies. Marketing budget would've been big, sure, but not nearly as big a write off as many, many movies in the past 5 years
Mortal Engines is negative $30m on production budget alone. Monster Trucks is a famous recent example, thought to be a write-off of at least $100m, King Arthur, Jupiter Ascending and on.
Yes financially. I posted an article on it a while back. Sony lumped their future into it as a flagship of their new universe. It lost them cash which was thought impossible. Sony was on the ropes and it's position was looking weak, it wasn't only Ghostbusters that did this, but GB played the biggest factor. But then Amy Pascal's Spider-Man saved everything.

There’s nothing stopping them having a second female Ghostbusters film... except it will likely be less then welcomed by the main public.

Many saw it as a bdisation of a classic for a cash grab and it wasn’t welcomed for the cast going on the attack when pointed out.

I’m looking forward to the new film.
The trailer was superb, had lots of lovely nods to the first one and with the son of the original director at the helm, it should get some of the original cast to come back.

I’ve seen a few videos of people shredding the NPC articles.

They all follow the same sad lines.
White men bad, sexist misogynistic and shouldn’t be nostalgic of stuff, how dare you not like the women one, it has women in it.

They seem to gloss over the fact it lost $70 million and was pretty much hated by the fans as the reboot they didn’t want.

I suppose that’s why Lesley Jones is upset.
She’s been told her film was crap, unwanted and a financial failure. That’s got to hurt. hehe

Nothing at all. But that would mean them putting money where their mouth is. Funny they don’t mind cis gender patriarchy types when they are funding their sjw movies.

All the cast are wealthy put up the money, produce another film themselves , star in it for free earn from percentage of takings,

Well that's rather exciting, is that a still from GB3? If so, I felt a tingle downstairs, although after being bitterly disappointed by Michael Bay trashing another of my childhood favs, Transformers, I still can't bring myself to reach fever pitch excitement levels, so I'll just stick with a tingle for now.

I think my fav Ghostbusters memory is when I wrote into The Real Ghostbusters comic and got my letter published with an actual reply from Spengler! I think I asked why they don't get sucked into the traps when they operate them???

Blimey, I can't remember the specifics, I have the comic somewhere in the back of a cupboard, but it was something scientificey from Dr Spengler around ghosts being ectoplasm and humans, not!

My immediate reaction to this was "I bet there's a ridiculously detailed Wiki dedicated to how they work" and I was right

https://ghostbusters.fandom.com/wiki/Trap

Still doesn't seem to answer the question though

Well I’ve found the comic in question, I would upload a picture but it’s telling me the file is too big??
However Egon’s reply was that they are spectropically coded to the protonic patterns of ghosts?
Although this may have come from a writer in Marvel UK in May 1988 so it might not be scientifically correct!

Definitely Egon writing the column, why would they lie to children?

Did anyone else watch The Real Ghostbusters as a young child and wonder why Venkmann sounded a lot like Garfield? Also only found out relatively recently they had to add the "Real" part for legal reasons, as there's another obscure TV show that was called The Ghostbusters.

I watched it and always wondered why Egon was a blonde and Ray a ginge.

Yup, obviously he was the voice of Garfield but that never occurred to me as a kid.

All five season are on Netflix. When I stick them on I still can recall memories of watching them as a kid and large sections of them.

Sorry to disappoint, that was taken years ago at a fans award show or something.

My daughter is seven and over Christmas watched 'GB3' followed by 1 & 2. After watching all three her comment was, 'Daddy the last two were great but the first one was rubbish. I don't want to see that again'.

From the mouths of 'babes' comes the truth?
