I did like that Bill Murray's 3 count was an ad lib that they went with hehe

I liked the film, the 'kids' in the cast definitely gave it a Goonies/Stranger things angle (not just because Finn Wolfhard hehe ). Kermode was harsh on it (there's a later video from Mayo/Kermode about his negative review where he stands by what he said but understands it's a personal thing and he's not in the majority https://youtu.be/_CSVLesQ2BY ). I'm more positive about it than the Jeremy Jahns review g3org3y posted too, but I do think a non Ghostbusters horror film with this plot would have worked well.
I liked the egon ghost moment it actually did feel do in a good way.

Also bill Murray nailed it as he the moment he met moderately attractive woman started coming onto her.

He's still my fave, loved everything he did. My fave bit may have been, 'oh, I thought you'd show up.'

Watched this last night and wasn't offended by it. As has been previously said it's a pastiche of Ghostbusters and Goonies with a few scenes from Back to the Future in it.

Enjoyed the young female and male leads.

Just all a bit flat, generally plodded through the story, somebody had a cool idea about a seat and a short lived final battle that was solved too easily.

6/10 or 6.5/10 for the end credit scene.

I saw it a week ago and decided not to post my immediate reaction because it was pretty negative. Time hasn’t softened my perspective either.

I’d put this as the third best ghostbusters movie. Ahead of 2016s dismal effort, but not quite as good as the still pretty poor ghostbusters 2.

Disappointing.

It's cool to hate it. I liked both movies, though I will always prefer the first one.

Worth it for the end scene alone.

You’re entitled to your opinion and me mine. I wouldn’t presume to guess why you think it’s good / great. It’s very presumptuous of you to speculate my reasons for not liking it.

Dr. Janosz is a seminal character and should go down in history as a comedy icon.

I've just seen it & this sums up my feelings precisely. It's WAY too short of genuinely funny moments, it's amusing & warm rather than outright funny, especially given that the original still makes me laugh out loud, even now! However it is a genuine feel good Movie, rammed full of Easter Eggs & I did enjoy it. It's pretty much the Movie Fans probably wanted to see & given that the original is a real "captured lightning in a Bottle" Movie it had an awful, awful lot to live up to, it wasn't too far off, definitely made me smile & was a worthy way of wrapping up the Trilogy. 7/10.

I loved it, thought it had the perfect amount of fan service and new character blend, it had that feel of the old films I watched as a kid.

Glad they didn’t use cgi in some of the scenes, very subtle but just looks so much better.

The siren from ecto-1 gave me goosebumps biggrin

We are all different.
I never thought the original was outright funny just amusing and warm and this was more of the same.

You can certainly see now how the original plan for ghostbuster 3 the Evolution film was adapted. The local town with Minecraft all around. The comedy even the film styling.

Saw it last night.

It was very good, but not great.

There weren't enough ghosts!!! It moved too quickly into proton pack action without the curiosity and discovery of the earlier films.

And the third act was basically a rehash of the first film, lacking in invention.

Although the girl that played what turned out to be the lead character was really good. If she returns for a sequel in a couple of years, that really could turn out well. I even liked her sidekick.

The kid from Stranger Things was terrible! I guess they needed someone to drive Ecto 1. Speaking of which, when he first finds it, there's a bit where he jumps it. How much did the chassis bend when it landed?!?!?!

Having watched Afterlife today, I immediately thought of Evolution which was a better film in my opinion.

As usual RLM are right about this, I cringed so hard at the end.

I think RLM are in danger of disappearing up their own "too cool" backsides sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I usually agree with quite a lot of their reviews but they've also become a bit too jaded and cynical.

If the nostalgia works (and it did for me) why knock it?

I watched the film, and then I watched the RLM review. I think they nailed it. The Egon bit would have been much more impactful with far less. And, well I won't go into the rest as I feel a bit sad about it, the film could have been great. I did enjoy it, no doubt about that, but it was a bit of a fudge and a missed opportunity I feel. Best bit of the film, the end credit scene. I think Spider-Man is the sole film to get this stuff spot on.
