I suspect it might have been Listen with Mother. I don't know if TV had got as far north as York in 1973..

Browsing through randomly, it's interesting that even in 1985 there were 2 hours of 'Pages from CEEFAX' twice daily.

Although, from memory, that was some of the best TV on in the daytime

June 1980.

The Open University followed by

Gharbar

The aim of this magazine programme for Asian women is to provide advice and information on matters of interest to them. It also includes demonstrations of how to make useful items of everyday use at home, sewing and cooking, a story for children and an item of popular music.

I always thought that "Gharbar" was the Indian elephant version of "Barbar".

No TV where I lived - we only got it in time for the Queen's coronation.

We did, however, have the BBC Light Programme and the BBC Home Service (the latter on long wave)

No TV until I was about 10 or 11.

Used to listen to the Radio---'Journey Into Space ' was one programme looked forward to avidly.

9.15 ENGINEERING: CRAFT AND SCIENCE
Working from Drawings 7: From Drawing to Work

They say that baby animals (including humans) "imprint" on the first face and voice they hear. It does make me wonder if the TV was on and I was listening by some sort of osmosis, because you couldn't come up with a programme which is more "me"!

'Wells Fargo'

and on STV it was 'Skyport', a long-forgotten Granada TV series set in an airport.

On the radio it was 'Round Britain Quiz' on the Home Service and 'Educating Archie' on the Light Programme.
