No because F&L is an American car show, and they don't use several different currencies in the show, Trading Up has used AUS Dollars and UK Pounds, converted into US Dollars every time money is mentioned, yes its enough to stop me watching it as its stupidly annoying.
Yes, it REALLY annoys me as well, because it is clearly most going to be watched by the British, and kind of gives the feeling that we are insignificant.. worst thing that you can do to your target audience. We are swamped by American programs over here - I do no see them converting their currency to pounds, and the chances are that they have so much choice, they are not going to watch Trading Up, and if they do, they are not going to be bothered if a British program talks in pounds, as we are not bothered if an American program talk in dollars. What's Brewer going to do next - try to talk in an American accent?I was at the track day at Silverstone when they filmed the Caterham bit. It was ages ago. Last year or even the year before.
Sadly, despite them showing many of the cars there, the Sag doesn't get seen.
And, yes, the dollars thing is really annoying. It would have been nicer to have had everything in local currency and then have on-screen or voiceover conversion, rather than Mike doing it 'live' as he talks to people. It just sounds very awkward.

That's Discovery for you though. They give truck loads in "thousands of pounds" presumably because "36,000 pounds" sounds a lot more more impressive than "18 tons" (US), which is a pretty standard load on the ice roads.
I was watching an American program about test pilots the other day and the British voice over guy was giving altitude in meters. Nobody can relate to that and no ATC uses meters apart from the Russians & Chinese AFAIK.
