For someone with his image, I imagine pulling birds in the US is like shooting fish in a barrel.
My wife thinks his voice would put them all off... But good luck to him, I say.longshot said:
I wonder if he is tempted to try again, but then again why should he. Mission accomplished.
It would be good I he could have a go with a fully-functioning bike. I wonder how Much torque/power he was managing to make use of? He won the class, but was a fair way off the fastest bikes and it might well have irked him.Evoluzione said:
He bought the bike as an unfinished project.
Amazing how many people think it's all 100% genuine and not just put on for the camera....

The bike not running well? He mentioned that it was an unfinished project when he bought it.
The good thing about the Speed series is the apparent lack of silly "false drama" compared with other programmes about making things or competing, even if they are claiming the tandem record in something that wasn't a tandem bike -but still a great effort.
If this encourages people to attempt things and/or become interested in science/engineering then it can only be a good thing.

How're they going to better that next week ?
I doubt they will.
He's doing something with hovercraft, which are probably the only thing more dangerous than his bike especially on water.I doubt they will.

Guy got the engine prep'd by a third party, he didn't do it himself. I would have no problems in building and developing a class winning turbo engine..........
No doubt you could beat him up the hill, too. You do know he's not exactly a novice at building race engines?
Turboing a bike like that and making it rideable and perform well for a race on a course like that is presumably quite difficult, even if it is all working properly. Then actually riding it fast would be even more difficult.
The Ducatis and the like aren't turbo'd, though.
Anyway, it was a very good programme and, once again, Guy Martin shows that he is a very capable chap who will have a good go at things, whilst being amusing and likeable on TV. I laughed quite a few times.
He appeared quite taken aback by The Hill climb car too.

Just to point something out.
He built the engine himself, designed & made the yokes, shock linkage, swing arm pivot points, loom himself.
The bike ran very breifly at Cadwell before he went, running on a safe map it ran spot on, Infact it was ludicrously fast.
Just in case anyone doesn't know, Guy is a fairly accomplished engine & bike builder, indeed his own built engines have won numerous road races, the thunder sport gp1 championship for Phil Crowe, and his brother too.
All in all a good program again, shows all of guys different attributes, but mostly his passion for anything motorcycle, a lot of people ask if it's all a show, but he really is as addicted to bikes as you think.

It would have been nice to see some of that in the program. It was a good show but missing that kind of detail let it down a little. He built the engine himself, designed & made the yokes, shock linkage, swing arm pivot points, loom himself.
