Worth digging his autobiography out. It was mentioned upthread, and I happened to see a copy while out the other day. Well worth a read, fascinating bloke, and his attitude to hard work is admirable.

Another great hour of Sunday evening entertainment!
Guys enthusiasm for everything is fantastic. He looked genuinely chuffed to have won the class.

And next weeks looks good fun too. Having raced hovercrafts while at school they are really cool things.

And judging by the clip they showed at the end of todays program, he does a bit of a "Campbell" in it as i believe it's now known......
He was up at Loch Ken in Dumfries and Galloway a few weeks ago filming with a hovercraft according to the local paper

It did appear that way, although he's not at the bottom of Coniston as far as I am aware.
In fairness, nor is Donald Campbell any more.

Anybody else spot how well equipped the garage was, and appears to be open to the house, but the first floor didn't have a carpet...

I enjoyed last night's prog but it's a real shame that the bike wasn't fully on song. Good job winning his class on half throttle though.

Did my ears deceive me or did I hear some bitter Americans yelling 'cheat' when he went up to collect his trophy?

I'd love to see him go back and have another go. Brilliant TV and something I'd like my kids to see. I think I might even know someone who might be tempted to throw a quad bike up there in the future.

I think it was "Chief" as in one of his catchphrases/tee shirt slogans "By Eck Chief"

I heard "speach". As you would when you know someone doesn't have one prepared.

It was pretty funny that Guy as obviously rather shy when he went up to get his Trophy! That a man who spends his time doing 150mph down a bumpy, narrow lane is a bit scared of talking to a room of people is rather endearing is it not ;-)

Another good episode. It really is very watchable.

Considering the prep that went into the attempt, I can't fathom why the bike wasn't tested properly prior to getting to the U.S. Of all the things to overlook, this was a biggie!!

Looking forward to next week driving

Got that sitting on a shelf at home to read whilst I'm next on holiday.

The opening page is enough to make you want to read the rest of it.

I loved the fact he set off the smoke alarms in his garage when he started that bike up.

I thought it sounded like the "speech" bit was in an English accent so it was probably the people with him winding him up a bit.

Please can we have another episode along the line of 'Guy Martin takes his bike to Bonneville' and see what he can do there?

Maybe have a medley of bikes/cars/golf carts he can attempt at different classes...

Yep, they should have tested the bike in low oxygen. It was probably fine here in the UK.

I did a road trip in the rockies once, goddamn the car got slow when you got up in them mountains....

Well-defined Priorities ...and a single bloke.

I used to use the spare room as a bike workshop in my old house. I'm married now, though.

Great series and good to see one about bikes.

Couldn't quite understand why he couldn't get the bike running right as I seem to remember it at the Festival of Speed in 2012 (was turbo-charged then) and it went like a stabbed rat biggrin

Anyone know the history of the bike post that - bigger turbo prehaps?

Maybe low octane US pump fuel and altitude?
