I'm more than happy to overlook the small annoyances of the programme as overall I thought it was great.
I thought they captured the chaos quite nicely and the fact that you are never on your own.

I died a little when the presenter said that Guy was bartering for his bike.

While I understand they need to sex it up a bit to make it appeal to the masses etc, it did make me cringe with all the fake drama they added in.

I quite enjoyed it,although I see your point about the over hamming it,,compared to most program's on the telly,it's quite tame.
I'm a paramedic and I cringe at some of the crap they peddle out about our job.
Luckily,Guys personality shines through, and so does the Indian hospitality and ingenuity. .

Going for the Motorcycle Land Speed Record - http://www.crash.net/road-racing/news/220904/1/guy...

"The bike which Martin plans to use in his record attempt is a 2015 Triumph Rocket streamliner which has a carbon Kevlar monocoque construction with two turbocharged Triumph Rocket III engines. The motorcycle is over 25 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall and runs on methanol.

Final test runs are planned on the Bonneville salt flats later this month before the record attempt which is scheduled to take place between 23-27 August."

Speed week is cancelled, that's that then, unless they find somewhere else to run it.

The SCTA President/Race Director Bill Lattin & the BNI Chairman Roy Creel spent this morning (July 20th) on the salt. The most they could find was 2 1/4 miles of salt suitable for a safe race course. The rest of the salt flats are either wet or wet and muddy. If the wet salt gets dry, future events could be possible.

-Speed junkie Guy Martin takes his battered transit van to the USA to enter the fastest road race on the planet: the Nevada Open Road Challenge.

Should be good for a laugh

Not sure I'd count that Transit as having been 'battered' but there you go.

Anyone know if it's still one of the little diesels in there or did they drop in the Ecoboost V6 bits?

Ok I'll admit that any van that's been crashed hard enough to put the front wheel under the front door can fairly be described as 'battered'.

As soon as they said he was entering in the Transit I thought 'no way' - that changed when they said he was entering for the 150 MPH average. One second discrepancy can mean coming last yikes so not exactly a walk in the park. hehe
