To me there should of been a six in a shoot off as the resulting 4 dishes were a lot better than the bottom 2 of the people of just got through! Aye Sven and 3 others can't remember names were head above others!

First post - hello folks.

Anyone know which Michelin-starred place in Kent the gap-toothed guy (Ben) eliminated tonight works at?

I'd go miles to have that 'Milk and Chocolate' dessert he cooked for the 3 critics last week....

Shame he fell short at the end.

I don't agree. The first dishes were invention whereas the shoot out dishes were favourites of the chefs and practised. It would not be fair to compare them.

Why have they dubbed this awful fairy tale music over the top of this first professional kitchen bit?

Does anyone know if the patrons of these high end restaurants know that they are the guinea pigs for the master chef contestants - professional or amateur? Do they get a discount?!!

Why would they care? And why would the restaurant want them to? They must change staff now and then and you wouldn't expect to get a discount in that event...

Only the quality of the meal matters.

Love both of those dishes, liked how Richard works in the kitchen clean and organised! Dam hungry again!

Except that when they change staff, they can vet them first before selecting who they get, and train them to be able to get the dishes right without needing constant guidance from the head chef. The guys on this program do a good job, but not "land in a Michelin 2 star and hit the ground running" good.

I am sure that during the service that the MC guys are working, the restaurant is full of carefully chosen 'favourite' clientele who know full well what is going on.

It's the West House in Biddenden.

Excellent food and ambiance and walking distance for me.

This guy is a master, I love his approach - no aids, no gadgets just proper cooking and if you're not able to work like that it's because you haven't learned your craft well enough. Incredible stuff.

He's very interesting but I find the whole cooking someone else's dish in a posh restaurant while everything is prepped for you segment very boring.

Who's going to go through? I'm guessing Sven might have just edged it.

I'm not sure it's an ego, he is self-assured but I think he has earned that. His dishes tonight were not his best and you could tell that from him even before he put them on the pass - even though they still garnered high praise from Marcus and Monica and they did look a lot better than Scott's dishes.

The cooking with a famous chef section is filler as it doesn't seem to have any bearing on the judging, but it's still an interesting watch.

Agreed. He deserved the win.
