Hoffmann is a legend all the chefs would love to just chat with let's alone cook for and with! Both were superb cooks but the water bath cooking method let him down but splitting hairs! Dam fine food from them both!

Has there ever been a chef who's water bathed something on that and it's been better than just cooking it?

He's very interesting but I find the whole cooking someone else's dish in a posh restaurant while everything is prepped for you segment very boring.
Yes, so do I.

The two semi-finalists are in Nathan Outlaw's restaurant at the Capital hotel in Knightsbridge this evening.

Oof... What a disaster.

She's always been very limited though IMHO

Wow, she got taken apart. To be fair, the plate she served up did look like a bowl of crap and if she hadn't gone for her arts and craft bowl it would have looked even less exciting on a white plate. I liked the way Marcus said "Wow, this is rustic...really rustic" and you could tell he was so underwhelmed. I can't remember a more one-sided semi final. The other bloke isn't good enough to win it bar some fluke event, but he was a long way ahead of Luciana.

Mrs Garyhun and myself commented last week that she's probably gone as far as she could.

Good cook, but that's about it.

Doesn't help that after spending a day in a 2 star fish restaurant she completely mangles a fillet of Sea Bass.

I can understand there being some level of interpretation about what is good and what is not, both Monica and Marcus were not impressed by the okra and had already said they weren't keen on it, but there can be no debate on the fish bones - she went through it with tweezers and still missed them. She was obviously just not up to scratch. Tonight's episode I think has the potential to be one-sided again, as Danny has looked a lot better than the other guy, who seems a bit of a can.

Bit of an imbalance here. On chef has to squirt some crab puree on a plate and put some jelly and herbs on it, then the head chef will quenelle the sorbet on and then dress the dish for service. The other chef has to cook fish, make a dumpling etc, it hardly seems a fair split.

What's the current trend for burnt tomato? Tried it, and really not a fan!

Likewise, the bitter edge did nothing for me (at Maze before anyone suggests it wasn't done properly)
