Did anyone see him on Great British Menu - it's like two completely different people !
I wonder which is the real Marcus - the one that his employees see ?
I imagine he still has both sides in him. On GBM he is only critiquing chefs who are already extremely experienced and many of whom hold their own Michelin stars. They cook food with no time limits (they can do as much prep before the cameras roll as they need to) and its stuff they should have practiced. There is no room, or excuse for error on GBM and if they get it wrong they deserve to get a ripping for it.

That said, Marcus does seem to have mellowed out a lot, a few years ago he used "brutal honesty" mode on anyone and everyone.

Nerves and lack of timing seem to be rife this evening - shame.

I have to say after watching all episodes so far Marcus is coming across as a very amiable bloke. Enjoying the show and the new look chef.
I was very sceptical however I am happy to be wrong and see Marcus doing well and coming across like someone who seemingly cares about the chefs doing well.

In termsof last night. Did you agree with Sitwell that the soufflé was burnt?

It was mesmerising watching two food critics almost coming to handbagsblows over a souffle. Hardcore!

(It was burnt, BTW. Or at least, a bit brown).

None of them had a great night last night, I thought it had been a pretty good week but then last night they all looked pretty average. Sven is obviously a cut above everyone else that we've seen so far though, as long as the nerves don't get him.

I didn't think the souffle was bad, Sitwell just wanted a moan.

The egg fried rice made me cringe! Top 2 food from the scraps were the best food of the episode, nerves got the better of them!

Agree on the critics, everyone seemed to have a mare but the right two went through.

I can't help but stare at Sven's bum chin LOL.

Speaking of Tom Kerridge as he was mentioned over the page, I'm just watching his "Best Ever Dishes" program from Friday night, bloody hell he has lost some weight, he's half the size he was when I last saw him on tele.

I like Tom Kerridge, but for some reason his recipes don't excite me.

I'm enjoying this series. Whilst Greg has no culinary credentials to be on the show, his comments are always far more entertaining than anyone else that's presented.

Spotted the Chubbster a mile off. His lamb was basically raw!

Glad to be wrong about the woman. Expected she wouldn't be much cop but she did alright and Marcus was basically gushing over her last dish.

Did genuinely LOL at the bouncing caramel on the spatula.

No real stand out winner out of all the chefs! The masterclass stage didn't go down that we'll either!

I always feel hungry after watching the programme even though I've eaten before it!

Fatboy's lamb was almost totally raw, what a disgrace. That Irish kid seemed like a right doofus too. Not an amazing standard last night.
