FMJ - Hartmann's first appearance
Platoon - Willam Defoe gets shot
LA Confidential - Exley and White demonstrating advanced intimidation techniques?
Was actually thinking of the scene where Kevin Spacey was shot , however that was also an epic scene (probably better than the one I was thinking of).

All others bang on.

They alway's find way's. Alway's. You's mu'st agree with thi's a's being one your'self.

How about pedant's ju'st s'top being annoying fools.
Oh, that's so funny. Annoying, maybe. Fools, no.
And I never said I wasn't one. Incorrect use of apostrophes annoys me more than wilful ignorance. But only just.
As I said, the way to get (us) pedants to stop correcting you is to get it right.

Also, why do people who get something wrong become so defensive? You got it wrong, get over it.

A bit left field for PH but the restaurant scene in 35 Shots of Rum is a little piece of cinema magic.

Back on PH track, the opening scene to The Cannonball Run makes me grin every time.

Calm down treacle. I really don't care I made a mistake.

Hypocrites like you like to criticise yet I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have to go far back in your history to find errors.

Anyway, back on topic.

Ah yes, the hardly perennial, a condescending insult.
Thanks petal. I'm touched.

Thanks for also demonstrating the second stage of being wrong...."I don't care I made a mistake"
Why am I a hypocrite? What's hypocritical about what I've said?

Go ahead, search my post history and find a mistake. I'm sure you'll find one.
I'll admit I made a mistake and try not to do it again. I"d hazard a guess it'll be a typo rather than an apostrophe (added or missing) but I'm sure you'll let me know anyway.

Dunno if it's been mentioned but the russian roulette scene in the Deerhunter still leaves me spellbound.

Too many to list but one from left field is the opening scene of the first J J Abrams Star Trek, where Kirks father dies as he is born saving the Kelvin.

I can only find the last couple of minutes on YT.

Very good but not Tony Jaa's best work.

Tony Jaa was ascending up the staircase was filmed on a SteadiCam camera mount in one take, up to the part where he enters the restaurant (most of the first 4 minutes).

Superb choreography to do all that in one take.

Paddy Considine's performance in Shane Meadows excellent "Dead Man's Shoes".

Watch the film, but the highlight is 1 min into this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58ylrJ0cH2w
Watched it last night, not bad! Was the acting ad libbed? Felt like especially in the flat, bit disjointed but still enjoyed it, nice twist at the end, didn't see that coming! Definitely worth a look.

Full movie here smile

Don't think I've posted this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVQPY4LlbJ4 from Glen Garry Glen Ross.

Or anything that Ben Kingsley did in Sexy Beast, particularly the scene when he was arguing with himself In the bathroom mirror.

Matrix lobby scene for me is a definite yes.

Also, and I appreciate that this is possibly the worst answer ever posted on Pistonheads, I do like the final lightsaber fight in The Phantom Menace...

The duels were slow in the original trilogy, from Alec Guinness taking about a minute to complete a 360 degree spin, to Mark Hamill's iffy acting when Vader was flinging toasters and other items from the Cloud City kitchens at him.

The Phantom Menace was a long way from being perfect, but was a great scene IMO, from the entrance of Darth Maul to the choreography to the differing reactions when trapped behind forcefields to the unexpected death at the end. Just a shame it was cut up so much and interspersed with everything else (dreadful) that was happening.

One last answer to try to restore a bit of credibility - I adore the dialogue in the opening scene of Shaun Of The Dead.

I thought the fight between Luke and Vader in ROTJ was pretty good, with Luke going more and more berserk in his pursuit.

Any scene from Glen Garry Glen Ross. I'll never tire of that film.

The end beach scene in the original Planet of The Apes, I really never had a clue until then.

THIS.

Nothing else has ever or will ever capture so perfectly the atmosphere of the start of a motor race. Incredible.
