Correct me if I'm wrong but CGI processing boils down to resolution against render time. Better processors means rendering the same amount of detail in a shorter time or a finer amount of detail in the same time. Since time equals money, I'm guessing the makers are inclined towards the first scenario and will make up some weasel words as to why the original JP is still the yardstick. Cynical, moi?...

Wondering if this will be a film to see in 3D or leave it.

I personally hate 3D, all the films ive saw have been st with minimum special effects.

Excellent film. Too much CGI though and at some points I felt like I was watching a Marvel action film rather than a JP one. The great thing about the first one is that it looks better effects wise than half the modern stuff.

Also found the "villain" was also a bit crap. But some epic moments in there. Especially "that" bazooka scene which had me laughing a bit too loudly in the Cinema smile

It's a solid 4 out of 5 from me.

Well I guess I was entertained and the popcorn count was relatively high, but can't say I was wholly satisfied with the end product.

It's mostly a formulaic rehash of the original Jurassic Park, with more bells and whistles, but minus the wow factor and suspense that the 1993 film delivered at the time. There are some nostalgia scenes as a reminder of the original.

The action effects (We saw it in 2D, no fan of 3D) and tech were excellent though, but the plot/dialogue and character development left me a bit ambivalent about it.

6.5/10 for me.

I enjoyed it for what it was, more of a reboot than a new story - predictable story, great effects, lots of product placement, quite like the Mercedes GLE 450 which made me feel dirty.

I hadn't read anything about the film aside from some product placement complaints. I thought it was fine and in keeping with a big commercial theme park, Samsung sponsoring the Innovation Centre wouldn't be out of the question and they never mentioned or focused on it, you would find Starbucks etc there if it was real and a single car company supplying all the cars didn't feel forced either (it happens a lot).

Loved the film anyhow, a comfortable second out of the 4. Despite the excellent practical dino work there was still too much CG, some of it ropey. Ironically not on a level with its 23 year old predecessor.

Flawed but brilliant for me! I thought the two leads were good. It was formulaic as expected but very entertaining.

In needing to go for bigger and better dinosaurs it's a bit like modern CGI driven films, getting more difficult to impress audiences.

Thought it was quite gory for a 12A, good nods to the original. Better than the 2 sequels for me 8/10.

I thought this was a cracking sequel. I don't love it like I did the original, but I do like that every single "wouldn't it be cool if..." thought that you've ever had, they actually did. All the things I was concerned about - super-dino, tame raptors, etc - were handled well and didn't feel forced. Id say the characters maybe felt a little flat, and it didn't quite have that grounded in reality feel that made the first one so real - still occasionally fell to the temptation of impossible CG camera shots perhaps.
I loved the references to the original especially the old visitor centre - very cool.
Only bit I really didn't like was after the final fight when the surviving dinos just sort of looked at each other then wandered off. That didn't sit right with me.

Most enjoyable overall, and a worthy sequel, but not going to be a classic like the original.
Wonder where they'll go next - they'll be wanting to do a sequel after the huge opening night success. Have they fallen into the same trap as the original? Whereby what we WANT to see is dinosaur theme parks, but the storyline means that's very hard to make work in a believable way. They're obviously setting up to explore the wider "applications" of InGen's custom organisms, but would that be venturing into territory that while interesting, just isn't what people want to see from the franchise?

There's potential for an interesting film in between Park and World - some of the website stuff talked about the re-taking and securing areas of the island so that World could be constructed.

I don't see how they could do another park.

As they said in the film if they had to evacuate the island they could never re-open, throw in a few deaths and flocks of flying dinosaurs offing the guests would make it more difficult still-I thought they only ate fish?

They could explore the military applications which would potentially make a cool film but wouldn't have the same universal appeal IMO.

I thought they could have spent more time exploring the functioning park-it was cool.

I saw it 10:30am the day it came out here in Oz.

6/10

The most stand-out obvious CG dinosaurs in anything ever. Predictable plot twists. It was all well implicated overall. They tried to tie in some of the original at an attempt to win over old fans. No spoilers - not that there would be many in a dino romp film
