Interestingly my nephew who is nearly 9 wasn't fussed at all by this film even though it's a 12A. Said he found the original much scarier which is a PG

He's going to end up being a mass murdered. I still can't get the lassies death out my head. Gruesome.

Was she the first female (human) to be killed in a Jurassic Park film?

Just watched this in 2D. Enjoyed it, although it mainly felt like a remake rather than a sequel to me.

References to the original were very well done I feel - lots of little nostalgic nods for the audience, but done in such a way that it felt like it was a real place, that was really derived from the original park. Things like the Gallimimus flock, and the red flares to attract the T. rex's attention and so on.
I loved the nerd fella, stole every scene he was in. His tee was excellent, and his hit on the other nerd.

I went ready for a massive Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull style mega disappointment (i.e. poor sequel of a classic after a long gap) but I thought JW was great! Solidly entertaining for more or less the whole thing. Could have been so much worse.
I think that is always gonna be an issue when the star is what mks most of the original a classic (see Ghostbusters/Big Trouble etc). Not so much an ossue for JP/JW.

The first film ever to break through half a billion dollars on opening weekend. Not bad, then.

I'm going again tomorrow (3D this time), can't wait!

We went on Friday night and I really enjoyed it. Pleased they kept the score and as it is superb smile I liked the references to the original film including the sign post and the Jeep Wranglers.

There was a lot of product placement there...

I'm looking forward to Terminator Genesys which comes out in a few weeks. However, these are all just warm acts for Star Wars 7 in December biggrin

Just seen this.

Crap and pointless. Couldn't give a hoot about the characters and the visual effects absolutely pale in comparison to the original despite being 22 years newer.

Ah yes it's "ironic" product placement so that makes it OK. This trick has been used many times before and I saw through the flimsy excuse to enable them to make more money then too. smile

The first half was very good but as soon as the Velociraptors got involved in the fight against Indominus Rex, it turned to st.

The raptors almost ripped Chris Pratt a new one when he went to rescue the guy who fell into their cage, but then they let him ride a bike (Triumph Scrambler in the middle of the jungle, huh?) alongside them, no animosity or anything?

And then they turned against him after chatting to their big sis?
Only to decide to be on his side after all towards the end??

Oh and the massive fish dinosaur jumping out of nowhere and eating that big bh?

And the T-Rex and beta raptor almost giving each other a cheeky wink before deciding to part ways amicably after killing the genetically modified freak?

WTF

3D did add to it. Made the film sightly better. 3d films now can be pretty decent.

It's not a remake, it directly references the fact that the original park existed.

Just seen this and really enjoyed it. The original is one of my favourite films of all time and this one knows it would never capture the wonder and spectacle so goes more for a straight monster movie approach. Chris Pratt has bags of charisma and makes a great leading man, although no one else really stood out. It was pretty dark in places though and I'm not sure I'd take a young child to see it

Also glad they rectified one of the mistakes in part 3 no-one beats the T-Rex in a fight! Plus the Director has said it's the same one from the original

I can see what he means by remake. In the same way Alien 3 is just Alien.

Yeah, a remake in essence, or a retreading of the story anyway...which itself is a remake/retread of Westworld. But I'm glad they corrected one of the mistakes of JP. That it works much better in a fully functional and filled leisure park, like Westworld.

That was revealved in the viral marketing before the movie came out. They had an 'official' park website with info on all the attractions. the T-Rex info stated she had "lived on the island for 22yrs" and in her picture (and in the movie) you can clearly see the scars on her neck she received in the fight at the end of the first movie against the Raptors...

So I was kinda waiting for her to 'get involved' with the I-Rex. Almost wish I hadn't had seen the info about her as it was less of a surprise when she was released. I kinda knew she was going to kick all kinds of I-Rex ass!

Personally I really enjoyed the movie. Massive fun to watch and I couldn't give two stuffs about accuracy or how much it payed tribute to the first movie. It was meant too, they admitted it follows the first movie and takes place on the same island before they even released it. And it's about dinosours... it's already unbeleivable... so I can totally forgive the Raptor/Owen relationship plot device. That's what it was, a device in the story to give us some cool moments. Wasn't meant to be scientific or accurate wink

At least it didn't have a plot hole the size of the one in Jurassic Park 2.... Just how did all the people on the boat get eaten when the huge T-Rex was still locked in the ships hold? wink . I know the answer and it is the worse excuse for editing EVER in any movie I have seen. They cut an entire story line out of the movie but left in the result of it!!!

... in the original as filmed movie there were actually Raptors hiding on the boat... they killed everyone causing the boat to crash into the docks... then escaped into the city while nobody was watching. They removed the Raptors completely... but left the aftermath of their kills!!! WTF!!!

Original is on. I watched this Friday but worth another watch. I just wish the used the classic. I've spared no expense.
It's the ITV edit though. The super safe airline version.
