Watched this last week and thoroughly enjoyed it despite my initial scepticism. Ok so it's basically a remake of the first one but it's quite well done. Chris Pratt, he of Guardians of the Galaxy fame makes the film IMO. He just has a very good screen presence\charisma and is able to pull off the humour quite well too which isn't always the case with leading men these days.

The kids are annoying but they were in the first one too and I love the idea and scenes of the dino's going rampant in a packed theme park. The one thing that does annoy is how they always take blatant liberties with Health and Safety in these films, people allowed to get within touching distance of massive dinosaurs even if they are herbivores...err yeah right.

Anyway apart from that annoyance it was good fun and riding shotgun with trained Raptors = awesome.

I really enjoyed it. The kids were annoying, at first I wasn't sure if the young'un was supposed to be autistic and the helicopter looked like a toy, but overall it was good. The Jeep thing I did have to sit back and just accept a bit of artistic licence. Thought the nods to the original were done well.

I really liked the T-Rex at the end. Seemed like the whole film was about how the T-Rex was st now and that the feeding scene was basically just a cameo to show how much bigger and awesomerer the Indominous was. Then like an old soldier coming out of retirement...

I thought it was quite good.
The CGI of the helicopter was really bad though...what the hell was going on there?

Notice at 0:30, where they got some stock footage of someone shooting out of a car windows and then MS painted a chopper around it biggrin.

I was a bit surprised that they didn't create a dino that was even more fearsome than the Spinosaurus from JP3.

That chewed and spat out a T.Rex quite easily if I recall correctly but the Indominus Rex seemed like a fair fight for a T.Rex.

You can, if you squint into the dusty alcove part of your imagination, see where this franchise is going. JW2... the cyborg dino.. but still not as strong as a T rex.

Yup I believe you're right. I'm sure I saw some truly horrifying concept art for it too.

Watched it again last night and once you get past the wow factor of seeing it on the big screen the plot, script and characters (other than Chris Pratt) are all bloody awful.

Still a big, dumb, fun summer blockbuster though. smile

Ref: Harriet Harman.

Saying that, not even Hollywood could be that twisted.

Happy enough with it to get the blu ray when it comes out. Might even buy a flat screen to watch it on.......

Can't agree with you there - he was descripted, so to say, from all of his better acting features, playing a typical macho. Now just compare him with Dr. Grant and you'll see what I mean. The dino baddy design was excellent, and the little kid was fine.

I thought it was a decent stab although there wasn't "quite" enough peril for me, it was pretty obvious who would end up as dino dinner from the off, its a family film at the end of the day and that should be recognised as part of any review...

all in it was fine apart from the military interventionist stuff which was very far fetched for me and harked back to Alien3 concept...so not really original.

the kids were fine and the female lead was ok although her transformation from uber corpo-geek into adventurer left bit to be desired and the male lead was probably the best character.

all in all 6.9/10

Agreed, I was very close to replying "proofreading never killed anyone". But I couldn't be bothered.
