He's ok as far as super heroes go but not in the same league as others.

Tony Stark / Iron man just does the whole billionaire / great outfit & gadgets thing much better.

Wolverine is even cooler.

I just don't rate Batman though.

Just sayin'.

Batmans dark, monotone presence allows room for cool and exciting bad guys.

Coin flipped.

But you have more than one batman:

You have the 70's gay batman, he was a big crap, like the 70's.

Then you have the god that is Frank Miller and the reinvention of batman. Now we have a grim dark tactical genius of a batman.

Also see what Miller did to Daredevil. He turned the dumbest super hero into one of the best series ever.

I agree with Pixel, never been a massive fan of the franchise but know plenty who are and rave about it, along with Superman, just dont get along with that either.

Its not even an anti DC verse thing, I like the Flash and Arrow (even as comics before the TV shows)

Conversely, I struggle to abide any super hero that isn't Batman.

My youth was sometimes spent playing Superman or Spiderman, so I have a soft spot for those two as characters, but the others (especially if we're talking the modern movies) leave me cold.

Iron Man, I just don't like at all. He just strikes me as a bit of a dick.

If we're talking modern movies, my favourites are;

Spiderman 2 (Sam Raimi)
Batman Again
Batman Again Again
Batman Begins
Spiderman 1 (Sam Raimi)

And (even thought I think they're more of a cynical marketing exercise)
Avengers Assemble
Thor (maybe)

But, then again, maybe I just watched the other movies in a bad mood and I'm totally wrong. I quite enjoyed Prometheus. Go figure : )

Consider the following:
Superman is the golden-boy/boy scout. For all intents and purposes, Superman operates within the bounds of the law.
Batman is the opposite - he operates outside of the law.

Superman may subdue a perpetrator, but Batman isn't opposed to beating the truth out of one to obtain more leads.

Superman is a reactionary super hero, he isn't often seen to be trying to stop crime at the source, he comes in when things get bad.
In contrast, Batman is constantly investigating and hunting down criminals. He actively tries to subvert organized crime and all the costumed criminals.

See this is a good point but almost re-enforces what I'm saying.

Batman becomes a stooge.

My opinion is more to do with the character than the films though.

FIRST of all. Adam West, the greatest of Batmen, did his stuff in the 60s. SECOND, have a look at this photo and then tell me that his Batman was crap!

60s/70s Batman was the best. Pow!
I had the Corgi Batmobile and it fired little red bullets. Wham!

Far better than the growler Batman fighting Bane the posh Scooby doo.

Christian Bale was better as Bateman than Batman though Batman Begins wasn't bad.

Batman's cool but he's completely lacking in any actual superpowers.

He has some cool stuff but basically he's just bloke in a costume with some gadgets. Perhaps that's what some people like about him. I give him points though for (probably) shagging cat woman.

I don't think any of the batman films have done the Batman IP as well as they could have. Now 'Batman: The Animated Series' on the other hand was awesome.

As far as super heroes go he's my favourite - you can almost believe it, well far more than some kid who gets bitten by a spider and gets all the benefits without any of the drawbacks of being, well a spider or someone who can reverse the effects of gravity because of a lack of kryptonite and/or magic.

Frankly, IMO comic book films are crap.
