FIRST of all. Adam West, the greatest of Batmen, did his stuff in the 60s. SECOND, have a look at this photo and then tell me that his Batman was crap!

Never been a fan of all the comic book characters, and the relevant films. Never understood the excitement, and the constant need to bring out another Iron Man or X-Men film.

Leaving that aside and if I had to choose it would be Batman for me. Even the Adam West TV series was cool.

He's ok as far as super heroes go but not in the same league as others.

Tony Stark / Iron man just does the whole billionaire / great outfit & gadgets thing much better.

Wolverine is even cooler.

I just don't rate Batman though.

Just sayin'.
Of all the US superheroes I've always rated Batman as the best. Primarily because he's not a super-hero, but also because he seems to have the best villains.

Even when played through a haze of 60's psychedelia it still kicks ass - POW!

I'm currently reading Batman '66, and loving every retro frame.

I hope anyone who has the means has played even just one of the Batman Arkham games? Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are great, Arkham Origins not so much but still good and there's a new one coming in a couple of months! Great games tham all. I highly recommend the first two and they'll be peanuts now as well.

This was about the characters, not the movies.

Utter rot.

The best Tony stark can come up with is 'No Gang Signs'

Batman on the other hand...

"Still talking -- keep talking, Clark... you've always known just what to say. "Yes"-- you always say yes -- to anyone with a badge -- or a flag.
You're beginning to get the idea, Clark. This... is the end... for both of us.
We could have changed the world…now…look at us…I've become a political liability…and…you…you're a joke. I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you."

Batman: You've got rights, lots of rights. Sometimes I count them just to make me feel crazy... But right now you've got a piece of glass shoved in a major artery in your arm, right now you're bleeding to death. Right now I'm the only one person in the world who can get you to a hospital in time!.

Personally I think people take Superheroes FAR too seriously, so the 60's Batman was just about perfect for me.

All this Avengers (that's Steed and Emma Peel!!!!), Coulson and SHI(TE)ELD rubbish is so far up it's own arse as to be far more laughable. Only Robert Downey Jr's sardonic Iron Man is immune from self importance (although I must admit Thor wasn't too bad, to which I attribute Branagh's direction on the whole).

So, '60s Batman rules. Holy Superheroes, who'd have imagined that? biggrin

Did Batman ever do his stuff outside of Gotham?

All the other heroes seem to work their gigs nationwide or globally.

Seems a bit selfish if you ask me.

This.

Batman doesn't travel. He doesn't even leave Gotham. I bet he doesn't have a passport.

He's a small-minded xenophobic wuss who doesn't integrate well.
