My favourite presenter is William Wollard.

Bllep, bleep, phwwt, fizz, pop ... damn, this Time Machine is a pice of junk.
I'm trapped in 1973.

A man's man presenting a man's telly programme. Chris Goffey wasn't bad either; you don't get many beards on telly these days. Would it not have been Raymond Baxter in 1973(or whenever the BBC first made it)?

The good old days, when a road test really was that, rather than a sideways hoon round an airfield. The testers were all so bland though, and hardly ever found fault. They just drove the car round some country lanes at granny-speed. One of the female presenters (I think it was Sue Cook) once tested an early 5-Series and noted to the viewers that the glove box or something similar, couldn't be reached from the driver's seat. My oh my, can't buy one of those, then.

But at least it was assumed by the producers that the mental age of the viewers was going to be that of an average adult.

It's not annoying when it's a title.

Most book, film, TV programme etc titles are written with capitals at the start of words.

I really can't remember the last time I watched it - I have no idea when it is even on, or even what channel. It doesn't deal with the kind of cars I'm interested in, so why would I watch it? I'll get my car fix from Discovery etc ...

I know one of the presenters was injured in some crash a few years ago though.

I have seen clips of course - I do dislike programmes where you can see the studio audience BEHIND the presenters - that must be awful to be at ... you just look like some kind of voyeur ... as though you REALLY are just there to make the prog look good instead of being a part of it.

Ask yourself a question. To the average purchaser of a BMW 5 series, which is the more salient point - ability to heroically drift the car around an airfield, or access to the glovebox? It's not the drifting. Not being able to get into the glovebox (to get to your wallet for paying tolls, or a cassette tape for the hi-fi, for example) could be very annoying.

The glovebox thing is exactly the type of thing that is handy to hear in a car review for a car you want to buy. It's not a big thing on its own but put together with a lot of other factors it might help you make the decision.

Ask yourself a question - is anyone watching Top Gear to decide on their next car purchase?

I find it a bit dull now. The same old tired jokes, how many times can they bang their doors into each others cars? Yes, sometimes there is some stunning cinematography, but it just makes me cringe. There are enough people that like it for it not to change, ever.
I am aware that the programme is not made for me.
There is still YouTube smile

In the days of Sue Cook (or whoever the lady presenter was), people might have done so. Certainly not these days, though.

Exactly this. There was a time it was a very entertaining hour, but that was many years ago.

If you hate it why don't you try watching it? How will you know you hate it otherwise?

Or something like that...

I've started to give up on it as it's the same thing each series. They crash a few cars, do a couple of overly expensive tests in glamorous countries, a race across Europe and then some drifting around their track.

I'll stick with Chris Harris and co (although not paying for their subscription yet). Might even start watching Fifth Gear

Never mind about poise, balance, BHP or even aesthetics the best way to test any car is going sideways with lots of smoke shouting POWER!!!!. Tells me fk all about it.

Same old contrived pap, show after show after show.
It amazes me that some will actually admit that they find the simplistic humour funny......
