Would it be greedy to ask to keep both of them?
in the back seat of the LFA. what no back seat
One would have to sit on his lap smile.

I genuinely had no idea about the cost or rarity of the LFA until I just googled it eek.

I am starting to think your plan has merit

MSRP of the standard Raptor in the US is $69k, pretty pricey really.

However, they do also do a Shelby version, this is local to me:

A lot to drop on a ford pickup

£45k? Doesn't seem so much to me when you compare it a Range Rover or the like.

with respect, in what possible way are they comparable?

I could say a Ford Ranger is only £19K, at least that's the same type of vehicle

Ok, fair enough. I was just saying that over here £45k isn't such an outrageous sum of money. But it's not like I've said anything new - we all know that cars are stupidly cheap in the USA.

for ref, a range rover in the US starts at some $83K

way I see it, £45K + VAT (£54K) for an unsophisticated pickup is stupid money.

You could say the same about a Holden Maloo. Or a Twisted Landrover. Or a Bowler Wildcat.

Also, if you go to the Toyota website and price up a top-of-the-range Hilux you can easily get it over £32k

You need to drive one. I don't know how you define 'sophisticated' when it comes to a vehicle, but every drive puts a smile on your face. I've done >10,000 miles in mine over the last year, and despite having access to over a dozen (some odd-ball, admittedly) vehicles, the Raptor is always first choice.

Anyone comparing the F150 Raptor to a Range Rover is clearly missing the point.

I wasn't comparing them directly. I was saying that people happily spend in excess of £45k on a performance vehicle, even if it is a truck.

Anyone thinking I was making a direct comparison are the ones who are clearly missing the point. rolleyes

Standard Raptor? Why do we constantly get fed lines (from TG and elsewhere) that it costs the equivalent of £20K?

At £20K, it looks like an ideal motor for anyone living outside of a city in the US. I know I'd have one if I were there but maybe not if it really was $69K.

I think Clarkson said that you can get an F150 with four wheel drive and a 350bhp V8 for the equivalent of £20K, comparing it with the price of a diesel Astra, not that the Raptor cost £20K.

The cheapest 2WD Ford F-150 starts at $25420 = £16600 + VAT = £19920.

I get your point, but that does not change the argument.

I used to have a Jeep Wrangler, and it was a hoot to kick about in, BUT it was far from sophisticated and pretty rubbish as an everyday car, made a great 2nd/3rd car toy though!

The F150 is built for a specific market, and surprisingly enough, it's not the UK, if Ford though they could sell them here (ignoring legislational problems), don't you think they would?

But instead, we get pickups here that are practical, for working people to use in much the same was the mass F150 market in the US is in their market, hence why ford sell the ranger here.

I have had 9 years of running a navara here, and good is it is so far as being a pickup, it's simply not a car or SUV ala range rover or the like, even Nissan realise that which is why the SUV version of it is the Pathfinder, and look how mechanically different they are.
