HMMM but is that what happened ? I read that the producer had agreed a cold platter, surely given it was his job to look after the team at 8pm when he knew they would be ate he would be on to the hotel to make arrangements for a hot meal . I have seen no suggestion it was the chef going home and refsuing to stay but that they were not asked to stay?
The investigation has stated the Producer was blameless for what is described as an unprovoked attack. A producer at the BBC does not book a hotel, that is undertaken by a department which is supposed to create best value by it's joint purchase of large numbers of rooms. So you ask them to provide you with a hotel as close as possible to where you are working, within the allowed budget. So the producer did not book the hotel. He was unaware how late the presenters were working so his request for late food was in itself late. After he knew the helicopter had left. It has come to light after after this event the hotel has previous for not supplying hot food later in the evening. In my experience of a lifetime on the road, even 5 star hotels claiming 24 hour room service, in fact, with one or two notable exceptions, on the whole provide sandwiches. There is no suggestion that the producer did not attempt to obtain a chef that would stay on, the chef duly left at the end of his shift and the hotel refused to make him stay on. So the agreement for cold food was the option I would have agreed as well, better that than nothing. But whatever the situation it no way justifies someone to be screamed at for twenty minutes, during which he was hit. Most people would have sworn and eaten what was available or demanded a cab and gone on the search for a kebab. I have done just that in a similar situation. I mourn the loss of Top Gear but remember the producer did not mention the event, it was Clarkson himself who reported it. If you want to blame the BBC for anything it is that they seem to have all three presenters contracts end at the same time, basic error. MGJohn said:

Wow! He doesn't perform all those numerous tasks on the cars alone and unaided without help. Not only that, needs TV direction to ensure good camera footage takes. Who knew ?
I have also been at the filming of TV auto shows and my direct experience contrasts with your view and some of the others here. Even if Ed China in reality does not know one end of a spanner from another he has a good presentation style when in front of the camera. That above all is what TV direction is all about.

Not sure if this has been posted already but Toyota UK has made a tribute to Clarkson for his work over the years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1WMdI3E9jQ
I think it really shows just how an important of an event this dismissal is when you get large corporations such as Toyota chipping in!

Bandwagon marketing from some TG Fanbois in Toyota GB HQ. Hardly a global company saying "thank you" is it?I think it really shows just how an important of an event this dismissal is when you get large corporations such as Toyota chipping in!

After Clarkson tried to apologise over phone calls, texts and even visited his house. The producer refused to speak to him, at which point Clarkson reported it, knowing that the management had people on the team reporting back any infraction, be it broadcast or notBowler said:

Highly likely. Cohen would have been looking for any possible excuse to suspend Jeremy.Perhaps the BBC will now require a zampolit to be present during any location work, to ensure that their doctrine of politically correct lentilista blandness is maintained at all times....

So the police say they 'have a duty' to investigate this rather minor incident - didn't they also have a duty to investigate organised child abuse, corruption, etc. ?
It seems Tymon doesn't want to press charges either. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32083...Time for all to move on methinks.
