I wonder who 'owns' the unshown footage shot for the rest of the season the BBC or an independent production company ? Is it likely to surface on a DVD at some point ?

BBC owns it. Kim Shillinglaw (who she?) has been given the poisoned chalice of sorting out how to air the remaining episodes. There are a lot of overseas broadcasters who have paid for TG but only received 70% of what they have paid for. Thre are plenty of threads on here about people not receiving what they've paid for. Even if they do broadcast the previously filmed footage, it often doesn't make sense without the studio links. Ms Shillinglaw really has her work cut out.

It's obvious really, though they have to keep it under their hat for a while.

The newly formed crew will be: 'Miranda', Claire Balding and... Caroline Lucas. New Stig is to be Shammi Chalk-brick-batty.

Kim Shillinglaw is the Controller of BBC 2, she won't be sorting anything out other than asking someone else to sort out the mess.

After Clarkson tried to apologise over phone calls, texts and even visited his house. The producer refused to speak to him, at which point Clarkson reported it, knowing that the management had people on the team reporting back any infraction, be it broadcast or not
I don't think I would have opened the door to Clarkson after what happened.

The investigation has stated the Producer was blameless for what is described as an unprovoked attack. A producer at the BBC does not book a hotel, that is undertaken by a department which is supposed to create best value by it's joint purchase of large numbers of rooms. So you ask them to provide you with a hotel as close as possible to where you are working, within the allowed budget. So the producer did not book the hotel. He was unaware how late the presenters were working so his request for late food was in itself late. After he knew the helicopter had left. It has come to light after after this event the hotel has previous for not supplying hot food later in the evening.
In my experience of a lifetime on the road, even 5 star hotels claiming 24 hour room service, in fact, with one or two notable exceptions, on the whole provide sandwiches. There is no suggestion that the producer did not attempt to obtain a chef that would stay on, the chef duly left at the end of his shift and the hotel refused to make him stay on. So the agreement for cold food was the option I would have agreed as well, better that than nothing.
But whatever the situation it no way justifies someone to be screamed at for twenty minutes, during which he was hit. Most people would have sworn and eaten what was available or demanded a cab and gone on the search for a kebab. I have done just that in a similar situation. I mourn the loss of Top Gear but remember the producer did not mention the event, it was Clarkson himself who reported it. If you want to blame the BBC for anything it is that they seem to have all three presenters contracts end at the same time, basic error.
Paragraphs FFS, paragraphs.
Here's my homework for re marking.

I counted four. With no swear words or attempts to circumvent the filter. Admirable, given current vernacular.

I hope we get to see some of the filming that was shot in Yorkshire on the fateful day that a punch was thrown as we drove past whilst the cameras were setup just passed Hawes looking into what can only be described as a small field of mud. Would honestly like to know what they were going to do with that footage. Also noticed that one of the Range Rovers they use was in a ditch after possibly slipping on the snow rofl

Looks like they've given up the idea of Hammond & May finishing this series off

I reckon that the whole thing was a setup instigated by an Illuminati-style shadowy cabal made up of high ranking members of Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren, headed by Luca di Montezemelo (whose 'leaving' Ferrari was actually so he could mastermind this).

From the reports, and given what we know about Clarkson and Wilmar, the new show shouldn't be far away. I would imagine the crew that worked on TG for all of those years will be first on the list to follow behind them.

Indeed. I've already seen a tweet from Melindi of Goldtrack saying that a friend is wondering where their next mortgage payment is coming from as Top Gear Live has been cancelled.

Insurance will cover a lot of the collateral for live events i'd expect, as you'll have event hire fees, refunding tickets etc.
it's an expensive day for someone.

And what about all the incidents that happen on a bit of grass with two Goals on the end? Suárez the biting creature? That other bloke Gerrard from Liverpool stamping on another players leg that could of resulted in a break? Assault in my book wink You might call it sport but they are also paid employees so why should they be exempt?
