It made a refreshing change to not have a section or challenge aimed solely on goading the locals in some predictable way
The bit about the plates was pretty funny though hehe

Really enjoyed that episode. The hill climb section was awesome. Wonder if those cars end up on a garage forecourt soon? "One careful owner"..

They'll go back to BMW/Bentley/Nissan, get thoroughly serviced, have a good valet and get sold on as ex-press/demonstrators.

Never heard of him either, or 24, or Jack Bauer. boxedin

Which is why I actually do enjoy SIARPC 'cos it's where I get to learn about all sorts of people. smile

It's also bizarre to defend a tv-show which is well past sell by date and you know it.
Yeah, all those 350 Million people who watch Top Gear are all completely wrong.

Why can't people who clearly don't like TG just change the channel and change their tune?

Can't they actual grasp the fact people do enjoy it?

Top Gear threads just have this ability to drag out lots of bitter people. It's bizarre for people to continuously attack a tv programme when there is a very simple solution to end their problem.

If you look at it again, you'll see that they all started braking way before the line.
Plus they didn't include reaction time in the figures. It would be interesting to see the results of a proper test and see how far away from reality the highway code is now.
Braking distances was one of the few things that made me think on my speed awareness course, it was covered something like this "yes, brakes are far better than when the HW code was written but reaction times?".

With the amount of in car distractions nowadays reaction time is probably longer (for the average non Ph driving god).

Haha, my Amazon will stop well within their crazy numbers, it's like they are leaving a huge margin for numpties or something...

Enjoyed seeing that old episode, but looking forward to the new series..

I am really enjoying this series. Loved the fact they had the Maloo GTS in yesterdays episode, such a mental vehicle. I also enjoy SIARPC and hope they don't get rid of it as it does provide quite a lot of entertainment value. I like the fact that the F1 drivers still use the original Liana as a good baseline car.

TG is not a "factual" show, it is an "entertainment" show and that is why I enjoy it, see the category TG is placed in on the iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/entertainm...

Just watched the episode and really enjoyed it. I'm not really a fan of any of the cars. I mean all amazing and brilliantly put together but just don't have the looks for me. What GT would I buy instead? Unsure. Maybe a Maser GranTurismo. They just look a bit more exciting and special.

For the record I only barely know who the SIARPC was. Never watched 24.

Did they claim 75 feet for the M6 to stop from 60mph?

That's about 1.6g.

Does the M6 have some sort of air brake or something?!
Standard M6, not the 4 door, but Motor Trend measured 60-0 at 116 feet.

List of cars MT tested at under 100 feet;

I enjoyed that very much, and was pleased the Bentley put on a good showing. The drag race surprised me, as others have said though the photography in some of these episodes is great. I always enjoy a good road trip episode, though I could have done without the cow herding bit at the end.

That was the best episode for some time for me and I had a grin on my face almost throughout. I snapped out of it and picked up the tablet for the interview but otherwise found it very enjoyable. The cow headbutting was superb smile

First and foremost, it was beautifully shot. The quarry, landscape and cars themselves looked fantastic throughout. That part of the world isn't exactly rich in natural features so that it looked so magnificent was testament to the production.

There's certainly a correlation between how much acting they attempt and the enjoyment of the episode for me.

Its very odd when someone comes on here as spouts something about "never heard of the SIARPC" person.

Surely, surely it says more about you than Top Gear if you've not heard of lets face it an A list international celeb like Keiffer Sutherland?

Or is it a case that some posters on here are doddering on the edge of senile dementia and really should be being helped out a bit?

If you haven't ever heard of them, don't post about it, Google them.

I have never ever not heard of anyone that's appeared on SIARPC.

Great episode - TG at its best. It is time for a good test of a new model, however. Next week I guess.
