I think it's Pettigrew's arm. Remember at the very start of episode 1 Michael Gambon was walking along the coast? Maybe Pettigrew was handcuffed and left for a bear to attack him.
left there to cool down by eric after their fight outside the bar?

Im sure Eric handcuffed Pettigrew to the pylon with the intention for a bear to attack Pettigrew. He did not count on the old Alcoholic dude stumbling and ultimately killing Pettigrew during the bear attack. I think Eric was sitting watching the attack, thats how he was on scene when the shot was fired by the alcoholic photographer.

It was Dan Andersson that was there, not Eric. Eric is the guy with the cast on his leg who is married to Hildur.

Yip, so Dan is covering for Eric in a death by bear killing.

Overall it's like the show does not know what it wants to be between the standard who done it and/or the supernatural goings on.

It doesn't need to be pigeon-holed. It;'s refreshing.

Aye, but the supernatural still feels like a vague distraction and not yet properly knitted to the other things going on.
I'll concede the show is managing to be a success in keeping me coming back to be drip fed every week.

I watched last weeks, been trying to give it time etc. Didn't bother this week, glad I didn't either.

It's getting a bit silly now

I am enjoying it - it's like a cross between a David Lynch movie and X-Files!

Not sure but using a fork to open up her mum's belly when there are knives in the kitchen draw sticks me as twisted writers.

Could have been worse, she could have picked up a spoon: would have made for quite a long scene though. The title 'Fortitude', does that refer to what is required of the viewer to sit through it each week?

This is bloody good TV if you ask me!

That scene was so graphic I had to watch it from behind my hand whilst grimacing hehe

I just love the fact that I haven't really got a clue what is going on!!!

There are two common denominators between Liam and Shirley, the Mammoth and Marcus.
Could be way off, but I think Marcus may be significant.

loving this series so far, swmbo didn't appreciate the last scene haha.

Mammoth juice was also shown flowing down into the drain once the original guy that tried to sell it to Dr Who had gone, does that mean it's in the town's water supply now? The way that was shot would indicate so to me.

I think people expecting monsters are going to be very disappointed. It's a crime drama not sci fi.

I think Eric left Pettigrew out there as he was annoyed with him but it was a prank. He then hurt his leg so he couldn't go and get him. He told Dan about it and he went to get him and that's when he found him being eaten by the bear. He's covering for his friend now.

The rest of it is the teacher Marcus poisoning people because he's bat st mental.

The mammoth is a red herring I think
