Guy has a TV manner that is enthusiastic and friendy without being patronising.

I'm amazed at how wound up I get at that fake 'under pressure, oh no, will he make it?' crappy music and voice they used when he was about to get on the train. I loved every other bit of that program, but that made my skin crawl so much that I nearly turned it off at that point.

A good program ruined by 10 seconds of st production smash
I hate that sort of dumbed-down, non-tense, false jeopardy too.

So much of it now everywhere on those discovery reality shows, even the nature programs fake tension.

It seems to assume that the audience are stupid.

Maybe they are and maybe it works to prevent people switching over?

It detracts from good tv, though.

Good bit of Sunday night telly - thrown off a cliff strapped to an Indian; What could go wrong?

I'm reading his autobiography atm (prezzie) - having followed his racing exploits for a while. I was going off him, too many 'acting like a little boy' moments and general knobbery, until 2/3rds through the book where he reveals he is, in fact, Aspergers. Explains a lot about his temperament and his reaction to events.

With that in mind, I think he's doing very well. And I don't think he puts much on for the benefit of the cameras (hence all the asides to production staff "is that reet?" etc).

Is this only a 2 - parter?

I did notice the two swastikas on the back of a bus he over took, now just found out it's nothing to do with nazis or germany.

Stolen from Budhism, a great shame as it taints the much used symbol. faces the opposite way and not diagonal originally.

Same here: almost finished his autobiography (which again was a Christmas present).

Excellent read, very interesting - but I felt exactly the same about his stupid exploits: I kept thinking "Come on, Guy, you're better than this." The arse-cheek launch pad incident particularly comes to mind.

I was intrigued that he used to visit PistonHeads: I'd love to know what his username was, and why he stopped.

Seeing the quality of building work, would anyone want to live that high. When he pointed out the welding and the rust inside a new building, not a good picture of India. And yet people do seem happy

A Very good episode.

Interesting, entertaining and not full of false drama.

It is interesting that they were only over there for 2 weeks. They produced a lot of good material in that time.
